That bridge pickup sounds amazing!  :o
Really violent and grinding - I can imagine how useful it is going to be when doing the Inconstancy Principle.  8)

Thanks guys !
That's funny because this sound (especially the bridge pickup) is basically a sound most guitarists try to avoid: everyone seem to be looking for a mellow, warm etc.. tone these days so I'm kind of amazed of how many people like it.
When I wrote David Barfuss about replacing the alnico 2 magnet by an alnico 5 one, he said I was going to have "A LOT more" of treble, underlying was the question "do you REALLY want this ??".. I bet he doesn't have a lot of request like this everyday..
eupat wrote: agreed!

Yep.
But I don't think you'll have the same tone if you put the same pickups on a wooden body guitar.. when I think of how the TV jones were good sounding when I tried them on a wood JM and how they sucked on the steelmaster, I'm pretty sure the result won't be the same..
The choice of these pickups were made according to Loïc Le Pape advices and thanks to how well he knows his guitars.. I provided him samples of every Jazzmaster I have or had, explaining him what I like and dislike in each of them.. I also provided him songs containing guitar sounds I'd like to get close too (including Sonic Youth, Unwound, The Jesus Lizard and... ddd  ;) ) and he told me go for those types of magnets etc...
All this to say that these pups wouldn't sound the same in a wooden plain bodied guitar but I can't tell how different it would be.. I think the hollow steel body makes the tone more sharp but more full at the same time.. something just impossible to get with wood with whom you got "sharpness" OR "fullness" but not both at the same time...

Anyway stay tuned, the 1st improv featuring the steelmaster will be up tonight..  :)

They're up ! 2 nw improvs awaiting for you on my page: http://www.myspace.com/leprincipedinconstance

The 1st one is called "the destruction of desire". This 16 minutes tracks starts in a clean, melancolic and beautiful very post-rock kind of way and slowly drifts into... destruction and end in digital chaos like in the soon to happen time when machines will lead the planet .
Lots of piezo action in the building of the main beat..

The other one is called "I never intended to do that"
The title comes from the 1st line of the book I currently read "true tales of american like" by Pau Auster) but it is not a random choice at all since this track ask and answer the question "what do you do when you've made a mistake ?"... Answer: "you do more !". The result is very interesting because the more there are "wrong" notes, the more it's the good notes that start to feel wrong..
Again the beats are made thanks to the piezo and you'll hear me sing (if you can call it that !) at the end..

All the synth sounding, bit crushing guitars are made with the WMD Geiger Counter... this pedal kicks every asses in the world !

Thanks !  :) ...but I feel like I'm only beginning to discover what this guitar can do..  8)

I posted a new track: It's in the myspace player.
It's called "Can't you hear me calling you" and sounds very ambient with a trad Chinese music mood to it...

It's the "Attention Deficit Disorder version: a shorter version of the live track made especially for the short attention span people (=most of us when we're browsing the net).. I'll put more of those versions (or excerpts of tracks) in the near future: there'll be in the myspace player while the long unedited live track will still be available in the old flash player...

...There're not right now because the site where my tracks are hosted is "unavailable"...  :-\

Yep !
I'm hesitating a lot between a Starcaster and a Les Paul DC for the next one...

The Starcaster would look like this:

I'm still thinking about what kind of finish I'd want for a Les Paul DC but I'd be tempted by the kind of finish that ES335 has but in red wine/burgundy... mmm time to photoshop a bit I guess  :)
