About parts suppliers, I am looking for someone who provides good quality repro headstock decals. I need one for my Jazzmaster and can't seem to find a source. Please advise.
I always understood it that the term came from the pre-Zamboni days in hockey. Whatever team was down at the end of the period would have to hose down the ice to help resurface it between periods, hence "hosers".

Unfortunately I have not been able to do any hosing this year with our terribly warm winter here :(

Sounds credible but I have never heard that before. I played hockey as a kid in Woodstock, Ontario. Most of our games were outside or in small indoor arenas. Often teams would play all day with what we considered limited surface damage. If things got bad in an area we'd just avoid the area. Often surfaces would need shovelling to remove loose ice but I don't remember anyone hosing things down until the end of the day. Even then it was typically only every second or third night. I didn't know what skating on a good ice surface was until highschool. We played intramural games inside a prefab plywood arena (set-up outside). The surface was maintained with fresh ice morning, noon and night but I never heard the term hoser.

Does anybody know of neck suppliers with good shipping rates to Canada? Getting ready to start a Telecaster build project for a friend, but the shipping cost always seems to kill the deal to the point where you're better off ripping apart craigslist guitars.

The tub is the tough one, the upper can just be flipped.

Some more considerations

Necks with binding:
Flex Guitars, D&B, no custom options, JM only - $195
Musikraft, D&B or B&B, JM or Jag/Mustang - $285+ for D&B, $375+ for B&B
Guitar Mill, D&B or B&B, JM or Jag/Mustang - $335+ for D&B, $485+ for B&B
Warmoth, D&B or B&B, JM or Jag/Mustang - $302+ for D&B, $392+ for B&B - Warmoth won't do binding on a vintage-style neck, though - only on a Pro neck, and only on a 22-fret board for some reason.

Aftermarket pickups:
GFS (very inexpensive JM)
Lollar (JM, JM-90, Jag, WRHB)
Fralin (JM, JM-90, Mustang)
Novak (Tooooons of JM options, Jag, Mustang, XII, WRHB)
Seymour Duncan (a few JM options, Jag, Mustang, Duo-Sonic)

I recently found this website http://www.guitarsandwoods.com
I have only tried their radius sanding blocks so far. They look good and I got them in only 2 working days.
I also saw some nice looking wood and fretting tools.
Shipping is free in Europe and prices are pretty low. A good alternative to Stewmac for some stuff I'd say.

I wandered into one of the local woodworking supply stores in town the other day - TH&H in San Diego.
Found a shelf with some laminated Alder and Ash guitar blanks much to my surprise. I selected one of the 3-piece Ash bodies.
Specs:
Light Weight Ash
Weight: 8.12lbs according to my harbor freight scale - although the body had 8.64 written on one end.
Weight per cubic foot: 2.17lbs @ 8.12lbs
Dimensions (LxWxH): 19 7/8" x 15" x 1 13/16"
Price: only $24.95 - I thought that was a pretty good deal. Assistant said they might be a regular item.

dguitarparts have started to carry Allparts Jaguar replacement necks - and to an affordable cost too. ($122 at the moment)

The classic allparts cheaper than allparts.

I just joined but I've been looking at this site and considering an offset project for a long time. This is the most beautiful thread I have ever seen!

I've ordered pickguards from these guys and they have nice products, though the shipping time sucks for anyone on the Atlantic.
