Gotta Catch 'Em All Red Affinity Squier Starcaster

Post by HNB » Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:43 am

It was kind of a given when I ended up buying three out of the four color options that I would eventually get the fourth one. It is actually really cool. So the red one has black binding, black and sunburst have no binding, but white has binding. Both red and white have black binding. I bet the red body would look killer with a ebony or rosewood fretboard to go off of that black binding. The maple neck is too bright of contrast in my opinion. At any rate, I plan to uglify it with some spray paint like its siblings anyways. ;) I am also going to update the pots, toggle, and jack like the others. Pickups for this one are a set of Duncan '59's in black. Pictures will come in after I paint it for some of the squeamish people out there like my mom who are sad that I am taking a pretty guitar and spraying paint all over it... LOL

After.

I painted the swoosh with metallic red nail polish.

I wired it up and got everything except the jack mounted up.

Just need the jack and neck plate to arrive. I had to order new knobs because I ended up accidentally getting 6mm ones....

Gotta say, not usually my thing, but I like this. You really nailed what you were going for, and running paint is super hard to control!

Thank you! It is pretty impossible to control paint runs which is part of the process I really like. It is chaotic and unique. I am glad some of you like it. 😊 I know some cringe at it, but I think it is super fun.

Thanks! It is a little more purple than the body, but really close. Not noticable when the headstock is in the normal place so I think it will work great.
