What direction to go with the pickguard/pickup covers?

Post by dangayle » Tue Feb 27, 2024 11:28 am

I picked up this Olympic White Fender American Special Jassmaster recently, and had my dude put my EGC block inlay neck and EGC JM500 pickups into it.

What should I do with the pickguard and pickup covers? Aesthetically, I'll probably stay monochromatic, so my options are black, white, chrome, or aluminum or similar.

Ideas?

black pickguard, aluminum covers, tele knobs, silver Gretsch-style switch tip.

Are there chrome JM pickup covers out there? If theres any that also cover the pole pieces, I think that'd look sick on an aluminum neck guitar. Maybe even a mirror pickguard with tele knobs and just go full mirror/chrome.

The funked up guitar alu pickup covers could be cool.

I think it looks pretty good as-is. Black pickup covers/knobs would move it in a more metal direction.

Black anodized aluminum pickguard, aluminum jazzmaster pickup covers and some aluminum heavy knurled telecaster knobs would make it one lean, mean, monochrome machine.

I ordered a set of the FunkedUp Guitars aluminum covers, the ones without pole piece holes. I'll see how that looks.

I prefer monochromatic, but I've been trying to avoid looking like 1980s super strats, so I don't have anything that are fully blacked out.

I was not aware of Funked up guitars, love the aluminum pickup covers. That should look nice. Have they made polished chrome versions before? Or do they only sell the brushed aluminum?

I don't know. I'll ask if they've ever tried
