I've been using a JM body shaped custom guitar for years, but I was without a real Jazzmaster for some years now. I've had an extremely nice CIJ Oly white one with Novaks and later on an earlier J mascis sig from which I utterly loved the neck. But I definitely wanted a more traditional JM without breaking the bank. So when I stumbled upon the CV60s with Mustang like bridge, 9,5"radius, properly placed trem etc.... I went for it! Big letdown was the colour though, the sonic blue was almost white. I'm normally a guy that hands everything over to a luthier, but during corona lockdown, I took a deep breath and plunged into a refinish.
Along the way I saw a J Mascis neck on a trading site, I couldn believe my luck! It is now accompanied by a stew mac 0,5degr shim, setup is great now! I use 010-052s on it, by the way. After that came Fender tuners, Q pickups (the hotter bridge version), 250k pots, a red tortoise pickguard and witch hat knobs. I absolutely love it now!

Looks great! What did you end up using for the refinish work?

Thanks! I used Motip metallic spray can paint, a 2K clear coat followed by more coats of clear but 1K. Then sanded up to 2000 grit and buffed.
