Cursed Jaguar build (almost) complete

Even though I finished my second build MONTHS before my first build, I'm still proud to present this cursed Jaguar. It features
  • a birdseye maple Warmoth neck with black pearloid inlays and a reverse headstock with black vintage Gotoh tuners;
  • a blue-stained pine body by nomoonlaser with the trem rout moved down to fit a behind-the-bridge pickup (filled with a Dawgtown custom shop tele neck pickup);
  • Expressway hardtail plate with staggered string slot;
  • Faction Guitars control plates with a TESI killswitch, minitoggles for main pickup selection and behind-the-bridge toggle, and individual volume knobs;
  • a pickguard cut from a 1953 Massachusetts tow truck license plate with the chickenhead-knobbed tone pot direct-mounted;
  • Maisietone Jaguar pickups featuring Shapeways pickup covers;
    11-50 flatwound strings;
  • and a Jaguar mute (that needs to be fine tuned).
I need to tweak some wiring, but it's playing pretty nice so far!

EDIT: Forgot to tell the story about why this build was cursed. The first hardtail plate was lost in the mail. I broke the wire on the original Creamery neck pickup. I had it repaired and it was subsequently lost in the mail when quarantine started. The first killswitch mailed to me was the wrong size. The first order of replacement pickups ordered was cancelled because their country wasn't shipping to the US. I genuinely expected to finish this guitar in December of last year.

Looks sexy. Your story reminds me of my Carlotta Valdez bass I am making. The body came and when assembling I figured out the bridge rout was too deep so I had to send the body back and I am waiting for a new one. The neck for it was a bound and block allparts one, but when it arrived the finisher had sprayed tinted clear on the binding so you couldn't really even see it since it was amber like the maple.....

It will have a different neck, guard, and body now making it pretty much a totally different guitar... but that kinda makes it more like Vertigo and a funny story.

It just makes all the effort more reward. Looking forward to seeing your completed build!

I like when people do something truly different, and I can't say I've ever seen something like this. Great work.

Thanks! I'm totally with you. I just want to build unusual stuff that I wouldn't see elsewhere. Here's the build I posted a few months ago, when I was primarily motivated by getting a varitone switch, a Duesenberg multibender, and some goldfoils in a Jag:

I love the color combo. That’s an interesting shade of green!

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but that finish is awesome! How was it achieved?

This is a great question. It's actually not exactly clear how this happened b/c it was somewhat inadvertent, but super cool. Lomic Guitars has a better idea but I think the original theory was a combination of the Sage Green stain/finish reacting weird with the clear coat that was subsequently buffed.

Ahhhh gotcha. So a happy accident. Either way - very cool!
