Trying to build my own Firebird / Firebird non reverse
Hi guys!
I've recently been wanting some firebirds in my life. Never had one, but played a few of them already and I really like them a lot.
Also, they look fantastic in my opinion.
Here's the problem: I'm a huge fan of the original vintage firebirds / non reverse birds and the colors and pickup-configurations they came with, but I'm not really a fan of the prices they go for.
And to be honest: I need a new project! I've wanted to build some guitars on my own for quite a while, and figured it might be the time now.
I've seen that some folks in here tried to replicate the body of a non reverse bird, and since I couldn't find any template nor real measurements that i could copy, I thought I might aswell ask in here!
So: does anybody have a template for a firebird / firebird non reverse that I could use? I really want this to become reality
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Cheers from Switzerland, Vince

Potvin Guitars in Canada has a NR Firebird template set for sale. I built one using it, kind of wonky neck tenon design but they are pretty good templates (if you want to go that route).

Thank you! I'll have a look at them aswell. So far, the ones that I was able to download seem pretty fine!
What I'm really terrified of is to do the neck myself. Never built one, but I've got a fair amount of experience with woodwork like building chairs, tables and stuff.
What would you guys think of a bolt on style neck? There's a telecaster neck in my box of parts that has been laying around for ages. Maybe I should use that one.

Haha did the same thing! Great pictures out there!
Guess remove the decal and I'm good.
Now I'm starting the hunt for the right wood to use. Maybe a nice chunk of maple (go down the Fender Route )?
Other option would be mahogany I guess.
I won't start thinking about colours yet, to many options and ideas in my head haha! (but who says I have to stop once I have one body)
