3 way toggle switch - Where to find Hex Nut?

Post by GaryJov » Tue May 19, 2020 3:25 pm

Hey everyone,

I've recently overhauled my Jazzmasters with vintage correct wiring and components - the only niggle is that the switchcraft switch doesn't have the "correct" hex nut as seen on vintage examples.

Can anyone direct me to where I can source these? I believe they are 15/32 (or better yet, sell me! ). I much prefer how they look over the gibson knurled nut style.

Thanks!

Assuming 15/32" is correct ... electronics and fastener suppliers , eg
https://au.mouser.com/Electromechanical ... qmZ1z0z2ew
https://www.fastenal.com/products/details/0147996
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-2-MS250 ... 2801496988

TBH for small parts like this I'd also consider buying a cheap switch just for the nut (although import switches are more likely to be metric), or scavenging it from one I had lying around. Although if you're a bit OCD about nuts you might have to hunt for one with the right plating / look.

BTW Fender switch has hex nut ...

Do you have a source to get that switch at $3 ? ;) The price to dealers from switchcraft would be low, but switchcraft dealers (incl the big eletronics supply houses) selling to the public are in the same high priced ballpark ...

I think they figured out long ago that if you can call it a "guitar part" then people will pay. But a generic DPDT toggle that everyone else in electronics uses and regards as superior to old style open toggle switches would indeed only cost a few bucks.

I lost one once and emailed fender. They shipped a couple out to me fast and free!
