I got this Jazzmaster Bass from forumite ADH many years ago. It was a bit of an experiment for him, and he did warn me that the paint job wasn't the best. Recently a friend of mine has gotten interested in refinishing guitars, so I thought this Bass was a good candidate for some refinish love....
How I received the Bass (It's not immediately apparent in the photo but the paint is pretty bad):
My friend started sanding it back, then due to the cracking that was present, decided it was better to strip the original paint instead. He also routed out the Neck pickup cavity a bit more as it was too tight:
Primer and several layers of paint later... looking good thus far:
Matching headstock (I will add a decal I have before he does the clear coats);
Updates as more happens!

Re: Andrew Does Hair Jazzmaster Bass Refinish
Quick update (some more photos from my friend as he adds clear coats):
The headstock with ADH decal (made for me by HNB many years ago) under a few layers of clear coat.
The decal didn't go on well (it wasn't a very smooth surface) but the new layers of clear coat have filled in the problem edges.
I'm pretty happy with it so far.
This is more indicative of the actual colour than the previous photos - it's sort of sparkly magenta/red.

Oooo that is one of my older ones. I love the flake sparkle, but yeah those finishes usually need a bunch of clear to level the surface out.

Re: Andrew Does Hair Jazzmaster Bass Refinish - COMPLETED
There's a few little things I need to tweak, but it's basically good to go.
The paint came up okay. My friend who did the work is no expert, and this is all part of a learning process for him but I think you could call it a "decent amateur job". Not sure what I'm going to do with it - I don't need it and I'm trying to clear space at home.
