Black on black with white looks great. Nice guitar.

Here's the Warmoth Tele HH. Black body with tortoise pickguard looks RIGHT to me:)

Yeah, that Tele does look good. Another look I like is black with a black/white/black laminated pickguard to give definition to the PG shape.

I switched some things out with another Warmoth Jazzmaster I assembled. It feels right, now. I like these JM-PAF pickups but they certainly don't sound Jazzmasterish at all(not bad in any way, in fact very good, very quiet, just not the single coil JM sound at all).

Re: New Warmoth Jazzmaster build(hardtail plate/Novak PAF)
Hijacking the thread a bit...
I see some Warmoth JM builds, and they're fine, but when someone wants to assemble a JM, I often read that their guard stops before the bridge, and that the bridge pickup is moved... Excuse the crude PhotoShop here (and the difference in the outlines of the body must be due to the angle of the pictures), but has someone ever made a "conversion pickguard" of sorts? Sure, it doesn't solve the pickup issue, but that would be hardly noticeable for most, unlike the guard not being long enough. The vast majority of details seem to line up, and the Warmoth holes pattern can be used; only the screw on the bass side of the bridge would look out of place (OCD friends, I hear you, but the other screws are close enough), but the new guard should still work with it or could be disregarded completely.
And yes, the switches and knobs would probably be located like on the Warmoth guard, I haven't checked if there's enough space to move them accordingly.

Hijack away all you want. I did not know that! So is the pickup on Warmoth guards moved back compared to a Fender?

Yup. It's made to accommodate different bridge configurations; for instance, a Strat bridge (hardtail or trem) takes more real estate on the top of the body, which would conflict with the pickup route. But if I can totally understand that (understand, not agree!), I still dont get why they don't also offer a a pickguard that'd go past the bridge.

The reason is laziness/being cheap. I've had numerous interactions with warmoth over the years, and despite being CNC-based, I think they don't have an in-house CNC programmer. If you have any request that isn't accommodated by their existing CNC programs, the answer is "no" - even if you offer to pay for a customization fee or whatnot.
So, they lined up all the bridge types that you cpuld possibly order, and had someone design a single pickguard that can accommodate all of them. FYI, you can thank the Floyd Rose bridge for all this, it's the one with the biggest footprint which necessitated moving the pickup and prevented Warmoth bodies from being compatible with regular pickguards. A Warmoth-bodied JM was my second offset and I've had it for over a decade, and while the pickguard thing is an annoyance, I doubt the 3/16" positional change has any audible effect on a pickup as giant as a JM.
Back on topic, I actually really dug the look with the maple neck and black pickguard, basically the David Gilmour strat in JM form.

Yeah, they have their rules and don't vary from them so you have to work within their constraints. Fine with me, honestly. I like my Warmoth JMs the way they are and have had no real problems with them.
One good thing about having multiple partscasters is I can swap stuff back and forth if I get sick of it and it is like getting a new guitar. I moved the black pickguard and hardtail plate to the red JM:
