Can Someone Finish A Neck for me?

Post by Footbutt » Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:01 pm

I have an unfinished Lefty Musikraft Jazzmaster Neck (with Dots and White Binding) that needs finishing.

Can someone on these forums point me in the right direction? Here's what I need:
- Vintage Tint Gloss Finish (will provide reference photos)
- Leave the White Binding White, but glossy
- Black Fender Logo applied to be under gloss coat (like the Lefty Japan Fenders)
- a "Crafted in the USA" script near the base of the neck (like the Fender Japan guitars)

I can't seem to find anyone that can do all of the above. Any help?

i got a quote from a business for $195. that seems a bit steep.

It's illegal for a business to apply a Fender decal to a non-Fender neck under the finish (or over the finish, but that's obviously something that's easy for you to do yourself if you're so inclined). I don't think any of the major players will do it, because they have eyes on them and it's not worth the litigation risk. I know MJT got a cease & desist years ago.

Also, what you're asking for involves masking the binding, spraying tinted lacquer, masking the neck, spraying untinted lacquer, and then probably shooting a couple coats of untinted over the whole shebang so you can sand the interface smooth.

That's higher labour than the average neck.

That is not steep for what you want, at least around where I live in the DC area.

No.

Several hours of labour before even accounting for the cost of materials.

That's not super high for that job.
