Shield those cavities, brother! You are right there, this is the time.
LOL I know you are right, but with humbuckers in my house I haven't noticed any difference in noise with shielded or unshielded. With my single coil ones there is a slight drop in noise, but not a ton. I think your house is noiser than mine if I remember right. (I think you were talking about wanting all noiseless pickups in a different thread?)

cool! kinda like my old Ibanez Firebird!

That Ibanez is SEXY! What is the neck made out of? I know plenty of Gibson guitars don't break, but the thought that it could just makes me want maple necks on my guitars. :) I only have one Gibson with a mahogany neck, but it doesn't have the steep angle at the nut like a les paul. I still worry about it. My two les pauls have maple necks. One is a vintage norlin one with a three piece maple neck AND volute with mini humbuckers, the other is a more modern natural studio that has a maple neck. My epiphone goth SG has a maple neck. (I know because I sanded through the black finish fixing some dents.)

My apartment seems to be as noisy as the lowest pit of hell, but still, if you shield now you don't have to worry about a problem later. You never know...
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Got the neck plate today. Thankfully my wife helped me put strings on it. I hate stringing up bigsbys.... LOL The string break angle is about the same as a Jazzy with the bigsby. I can easily see how the vibrola wouldn't work with this design. Here are pictures!

Mine are Gotoh ones. I like them. Pretty easy to use and install.

That looks really good. Nice job, there.

Do yourself a favor and get the Callaham Upgraded Main String Shaft for Bigsby. It takes all the hassle out of stringing it. You just run the strings through and that's it.

I only learned about these after spending similar money on the functional but much uglier Vibramate String Spoiler.

The Callaham solution is more elegant and much more attractive. The String Spoiler is basically like the Bigsby equivalent of a Buzz Stop...an ugly extra bit of hardware that can be avoided by using newer, better solutions.

That Vibramate String Spoiler does look like it would certainly do the trick, though.
