I want to do a Type 1 Marauder build but this definitely has me moving toward a type 2 now. Super super cool man. Very impressive.
The Type II is my favorite. It's a beautiful design. My Telerauder was based on that one.

Thanks guys! I’m beyond super happy with it so far. I need to replace the bridge pickup because it’s malfunctioning, but other than that, it’s truly been a dream guitar. I can’t put it down!

Now let us see them both side by side. :w00t:
I have my DSG at the studio. I’ll pick it up next practice and get some side by side shots!

Looks great! Here’s mine:

Good lord… that thing is sweeeeeeeet! It does look fantastic with the mustang style trem. I just have real difficulty keeping those style trems in tune. In fact, that was the reason I ended up getting rid of my competition mustang reissue. But beautiful, nonetheless! Congrats!

Wow, that looks great! I saw pics of the body and neck on GuitarPaintGuys Facebook, and was shocked at how great it looked. You have to be happy with the way it turned out! Nice Job!
Thanks! You really knocked it out of the park with the body! I’m forever grateful to you for agreeing to fabricate it for me!

If anyone wants to see how mine turned out, you can see an Instagram post with it:

I reached out to Joe initially to see if he’d paint it for me, when I realized I was never going to have the time to. I’d played a few of his guitars and always liked them. He used to work at Collings,, and his craftsmanship is pretty impeccable.

He offered to finish it for a pretty reasonable price, and I figured an awesome luthier, versus what I was going to do was worth it.

When looking into the moog switches, and wiring it became too much. We opted for simple and Joe made control plates based on faction templates. It plays fantastic. It’s got a strat switch on the top, blend knob for the middle pickup down by the jack, and McNelly gold foil jag pickups. Super fun, and different than anything else I own.

Looks great, and in all reality the strat style switching is probably more player friendly than the Marauder switching... Although those switches do look really cool.

Thanks, man!

I was not sure if I'd like it, as I always thought I wanted the full Marauder, but my conversations with a few other players and Joe tipped me towards simpler.

I think the strat switch took it from bring a reproduction to simply a guitar I am going to play all the time.. I cannot tell you how much fun it is.
Sonichris made a beautiful neck and body. McNelly's jag gold foils are insane, and Joe pulled it together perfectly.
