Just got this body in. It was sold as a classic vibe. But the vintage American replacement pickguards I have don’t fit.
Aren’t the CVs supposed to be to vintage spec?

My fender Japan reissue trem and bridge fit no issue. And control panel too.
Practically none of the pockguad holes line up.
Also are the neck pockets for CV and VM different?
Is this a VM or a CV Squier Mustang body?

I want to say it's a Vintage Modified - some of the sonic blue ones are very pale as I recall. Having said that, I think you're mistaking the Classic Vibes made in China (the original series, which did not include a Mustang) with the ones they recently introduced, which are simply just Vintage Modified guitars rebranded as Classic Vibe with a few changes here and there. I would assume that the compatibility with American parts is the same.
In other words, I wouldn't fault someone for selling a Vintage Modified Mustang as a Classic Vibe Mustang - the bodies aren't really going to be any different.

I'm no expert, but the bare wood in the neck pocket looks a lot yellower than CV's poplar or VM's basswood. Or have they made VM's in alder at some point?
Try googling these to compare:
- squier classic vibe mustang stratosphere
- squier vintage modified mustang stratosphere
With those photos, you might also be able to compare pickguard screw hole patterns.

Fender Special Run, when a particular dealer commissions a model in a different-than-usual colour or with custom specs.
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

Oh cool didn’t know that! Hmm wish there was a way to know for sure. I ordered a vm neck for it. Hopefully all goes well with it fitting / lining up
