Mustang Jag trem

Getting painted right now... AVRI Trem with Staytrem trem arm, Staytrem bridge, Custom wound Kurtis Novak pickups... Now just need a neck. I want a Jagstang nut width but cant find anyone who makes them. Anyone know where to get one made? Also should I go vintage tuners or get something more modern? I want this to look 60's not modern so is there any modern tuners that looks vintage while also being better fitted for quicker string changes. The Vintage ones are kind of a pain when I have to restring mid set if I break a string on stage.

Funny, I always found it easier to restring vintage tuners than modern ones but I guess everyone's different.

If fast string changes are your main concern, Fender has what they call "Vintage style" locking tuners that I believe are the same as Gotoh SD91-MGs. They look pretty vintage to me, they even have a little notch on the post :D. I think there's a more upscale version in the SD510.

I would simply use the Vintage style tuners. ...never had problems with them...

What colour will you give to the Mustang?

Is this an old original ´65 pickguard?
It starts... when it begins.

Yes the Pickguard and Chrome piece are from a 65.

The problem I have with vintage tuners is having to trim them on stage for a quick change over. Its not a crazy big deal but it adds an extra step and sometimes getting the string to stay in the hole can be a pain on stage too.

For what concerns the neck, unfortunately, unless you have it custom made by a luthier, I never see the Jagstang nut width (1.5625" (39.68 mm) available from any major aftermarket company.

If a Jagstang neck won't pop up, your best bet would be either:
an A neck (1 1/2" or 38.1mm) such as this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1964-FENDER- ... SwRJNcrnoY

...or a CIJ MG 69 RI neck, which has a nut width of 40mm and it's virtually the same as the JS or very close in size/shape/feeling.

I hope it helps.

Just got it back from the painter and the neck in the mail.... The neck pocket is too small for the neck. My sanding skills arent the best should I bring it to someone to have them do it. If I do it myself is it easy to make it so its completely screwed?

Just use a sanding block and be slow about it. A few passes on each side of the pocket and test for fit.

Even if you went way too far, the neck would still bolt on and it would play fine but it would just be easier for it to go on a little crooked is all.

Just go slow.

Pickguard was lightly shrunken and didnt fit exactly so its kinda crooked at the bottom so eventually will replace with a spitfire but for now it looks fantastic.

That blue/green in combination with the tortoiseshell and the maple headstock looks absolutely stunning :) That's one hell of a 'Stang you have here.

Looks great. That PG is good with it. Mustangs can be real eye-catchers and this one is definitely that.
