Title says it.
Any recommendations for a rattle can lacquer that can be buffed out to a high gloss?

I don't think obtaining a high gloss with lacquer (ReRanch/nitro or Duplicolor/acrylic) is an issue; keeping it glossy over time is another matter.
I think the key is wait a sufficient time for curing before final polish, and count on it getting scratched/dull/shrinking somewhere down the line anyway; be ready to polish it periodically if you want it to stay glossy.
