Anyone tried Bootstrap’s Lake Surfer pickups?
I’m looking to upgrade a Squier VM Jazzmaster I picked up on the cheap. I was going to go with Fender Pure Vintage pickups, but the Bootstrap JM pickups have piqued my interest. Anyone have any opinions on these pickups?

I have a set of Lakesurfer Alnico 2s, so they might be a bit different from their Vs.
I thought they were pretty good. They're built correctly and sound like Jazzmaster pickups to me. A bit warmer and crunchier on the bridge, but that might just be the Alnico 2 talking.
I have PV65s on my other guitar, for reference.

Which do you like better, The PV65’s or the Lake Surfers?
I have PV65s in one of my AVRI, and I love them, but I was thinking of doing something different for the VMJM.

It's hard to say. They're definitely different enough that they don't feel redundant, but at the same time similar enough that I could be happy with either one.
The PV65s are more hi-fi and bold, the Lakesurfers are warmer and fuller.
But again, this is Alnico V vs Alnico II so it's not exactly apples to apples.

Thanks for the info. I think I might be pulling the trigger.
