Re: Marauder....and a XII!
Marauder is finished! I was hoping for a sunny day for pics, but not in the last 3 days. It's a cool guitar. Big. It's bigger than a JM by just a little, but it feels bigger, at least so far.
I tried something new with controls and plate routes. The marauder has A LOT of controls, most of which I don't need. But the plates look naked without them. I've covered up holes using black tape or even pickguard material before. So on this, I just routed down in the plastic to the black layer, and drilled all the switch mounting holes and plugged those with screws and nuts. From a distance it looks pretty good.
It currently has just three on/off switches for the pickups, volume and tone controls. Plays well. Some cool sounds with the middle pickup.
More pics when it's sunny out.

Damn, that's beautiful. I love the way you routed the edges of the PG/plates to show where they join. Outstanding.

This Marauder is so cool. The headstock on these is all time. I’m surprised Fender doesn't capitalize more on that shape. Can’t wait to see the Cadillac Green in the sunlight.

That's lovely Chris! Are the letters raised on the Marauder headstock?

Wow! Super cool, especially the pickguard's edges. All those switches...

Re: Marauder....and a XII!
The Electric XII is finished! Actually, it has been for a while, i just didn't take pics until yesterday.
The "metal" plates are mirrored acrylic, but it looks pretty convincing to me.
The Novak pickups sound great. I wired it with a 4 way rotary diagram compliments of a Shadoweclipse13 post from years ago. The series/parrallel sound almost exactly the same.
The ferrules on the back are supposed to be mis-aligned so you can get them to align with the bridge above.
12 strings are 3 times harder to string and tune. shouldn't it be just two times as hard? I'm really glad I went with Hipshot locking tuners.
It's Fiesta red, but the pics make it look more red red, less pinky red.

A little better picture of the Marauder color. It's really dark, and doesn't show all the green metallic in pics very well.
I played it at a gig a few weeks ago, and it sounded and played great. I dig it.

That marauder is absolutely magnificent.
As for tuning the XII...Leo Kottke would often joke during a tuning break on stage, "12-string guitarists spend half their time tuning, and the other half playing out of tune."
As a longtime acoustic 12 player, I feel your pain...or, now you get to feel mine. It's worth it though.

Both of those look amazing. Beautiful work. I love the way you did the PG and plates on the Marauder.

Amazing work right there- you should be very proud of yourself.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
