Is the lifting around the screw holes due to the water seeping in?
Yes, it's even worse on the back. On one of the neck screws cracked the finish. :fp:
So, yes, it's far from perfect overall. On the other hand I possibly wouldn't dare to touch it after all that work if it had turned out perfect.

Don't worry, the colour is too gorgeous to stay focused on the liftings. If the cracks bother you that much, just go wild and relic it :ph34r:

Aw, thank you guys. ::)
Today arrived the last bit: a fresh set of La Bella Deep Talkin' flatwound strings. I can't wait to put it all together.

That color looks great! Nice job!

Question: how would one seal the screw holes before wet sand? I ask this because the same thing happened to me with a tele and it’s screw holes before.

Personally I would allow paint to get in the screw hole and wet sand before cleaning the hole out

Cool! I’ve actually been reading about it and people do that, a type of wax, mineral spirits instead of soapy water, or don’t sand at all and go straight to buffing.

Well, thank you all. The color is great indeed, everytime I look at it it looks different, ranging from a deep olive green over different hues of gold to a greenish silver. Can't wait to have it under stage lights.

As for the sealing of the screw holes: I would just use wax. I believe it depends on the wood how bad it can be but next time I would just seal it and be safe. It actually got better, though. Maybe it will just disappear again after some time.

And of course I was already looking for colors I might want to use for my next paint job and found this great site which might be interesting for those who dig some Porsche colors: http://www.elferclassic.de/technik/farb ... k-blau.php
