Hello all, I purchased a Classic 60s Jazzmaster and love it but don’t care for the neck. I like my Squier Mascis Jazzmaster neck better. I was wondering if anyone has found one from Warmoth or anywhere else that is much the same. I don’t seem to be able to find any of the Mascis ones available anywhere anymore.
Thanks for the help

Well, before you delve into the subtler details it might help to take a broad look at the obvious differences and see if you can narrow down what you like about the J Mascis Neck.
The 60s Lacquer has a 7.25" radius, vintage frets, 42mm nut width, and gloss nitro finish.
The J Mascis Jazzmaster has a 9.5" radius, jumbo frets, 42.5mm nut width, and satin poly finish.
Both necks are described as having a "C" shape, but I think we can all agree that knowing what letter the neck profile is described as isn't very useful because there's so much variance in what different manufacturers call a "C" shape.
But if you can look at the obvious differences and say "Yeah this is what makes me prefer the J Mascis neck" then it makes your hunt much easier.
FWIW they do pop up on Stratosphere every once in a while if you can wait a bit.

Thanks for the info, the Mascis neck almost feels a little wider and I believe the nut is spec’d To be a little wider. Also I think the frets being vintage and consequently not quite as tall seems to give me a little trouble as well. Could just be that I’m not super experienced either.

Like the other dude said keep and eye out on Stratosphere. I’d recommend keeping an eye out on Reverb & eBay too. You never know with CL as well.
It may be worth while to just buy the guitar used, take the neck, & sell off the body. Depending on your area, jems can sometimes be found on OfferUp, LetGo, & Facebook Marketplace.

Those mascis necks are still being made and put on the "Iron man" jazzmaster that squier makes. I don't remember what they call it, but it's just a CAR mascis, including the gold guard. Hence why I call it Iron man. They're ugly and parting them out should be encouraged.
This is an excellent rectangle

Funny thing is they don't even look half bad if you change all the plastic parts to white.mackerelmint wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 8:50 pmThose mascis necks are still being made and put on the "Iron man" jazzmaster that squier makes. Surely someone at fender at some point could have AB-ed the two options? ...No?
