Jaguar /Mustang bridge question
I have a 96' reissue Jaguar with a Mustang bridge installed by the previous owner. I'm a new guitar player. The high E string rolls off the fretboard occasionally. The width measurement from E to e on the strings at the tailpiece is 2". Measurement on the Mustang bridge is 2 1/8". This makes me believe that the Mustang bridge is wider than a stock original Jaguar. Can anyone confirm this? I'm thinking of finding an original Jaguar bridge to return it to original. I accept blame due to my playing as well .Just trying to confirm my suspicions. Thanks for the knowledge on this site.

If it's a mij reissue, the spacing at the trem is narrower than the bridge. 2 1/8" really should be okay, and doesn't need to match the trem.
Either, the nut is spaced wrong, or the neck isn't straight in the pocket.
You can loosen the strings, back the neck screws off a turn, and usually push the neck towards the bass side.
Then, just tighten everything back up.

2 1/8" is 54mm. 52mm is a commonly preferred E-E saddle spacing - eg as on Staytrem or vintage-style jag bridge - especially for those who find themselves with Mustang bridges that are closer to 56mm.
The E rolling off the edge could be due to any or all of the issues mentioned so far ... Mustang bridge saddle spacing, nut E cut too close to edge, neck sitting a little angled in the pocket. Plus rolled fretboard edges, excessive fret end bevel, slightly narrow fretboard, etc.
You can try half-loosening the neck screws and straightening the neck in the pocket as suggested. If the neck doesn't move, a 52mm bridge should improve things.

If you have a vintage spec reissue Jaguar with a 7.25 neck radius this bridge is a drop in replacement with the narrower string spacing and its far less expensive than your other options.
