lefty banana neck!
hey guys!
so, my 80s strat/evh phase continues, and i've been considering having a maple neck with a banana/hockeystick headstock made for one of my strats! i know musikraft makes one, but i was thinking i'd reach out to you guys and see if there are any other recommendations for builders, or if any of you have any experience making them? i'm always down for supporting fellow members if possible (looking at you Deed_Poll!)
also in case it's not clear what i mean for a banana neck:

Warmoth Pro Construction Slapshot
It's not perfect, with that little pointy nipple piece in the middle of the bottom like an Epiphone Batwing head, but they DO offer lefty

Re: lefty banana neck!
thanks! i am seriously considering the Musikraft one here, as it has the right shape without me having to shave anything down haha. https://musikraft.com/product-info.php?pid2091.html
my only concern is really choosing the correct neck profile... any advice?

Unfortunately, I don't. I almost always pick the standard thin from Warmoth, but I'm short and have small-ish hands. The '59 fat-back felt good, but fatigued my hand pretty quick. And being lefty, I don't know the feel of the basic Fender shapes all that well.BlixaFan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 7:27 pmthanks! i am seriously considering the Musikraft one here, as it has the right shape without me having to shave anything down haha. https://musikraft.com/product-info.php?pid2091.html

Re: lefty banana neck!
that's fair enough! i like all kinds of necks, but i think i might just do a pretty thin C shape. my Tele has a killer V shape which i love, but i don't think it'll be good for faster playing. also my hands are pretty small too so huge necks don't work for me well.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 7:59 pmUnfortunately, I don't. also, i am thinking of doing a floyd rose locking nut, even though the guitar this neck is going on doesn't currently have a floyd rose bridge (it currently has a black strat trem). i love the floyd rose on my charvel, so i eventually plan on putting a floyd on this guitar.
is there anything i should consider with a locking nut and using it with a strat trem (for the time being?)
i also know there are some nuts that fit the floyd rose nut shelf, but are non-locking/rolling, which could be a good alternative before i throw a floyd on the guitar...

Re: lefty banana neck!
I've never really messed with any Floyd Rose trems. I wouldn't have any idea beyond the basic clamp-type nut.
