How did that thread went unnoticed since september?
Great work! I
follow your other build threads with great passion and I just love the look of those Ric-basses. And I always thought they would make a lovely guitar too!
Got the old Rickenfaker from my former Bassist when he had the money to get both, a real one plus a matching 480.
I even was a bit disappointed playing it (the guitar) back then as I've imagined it way cooler! I'm still in the market for a double bound hybrid between a JM and a 481 with a Custom Deluxe Tele inspired pickguard and a B&B 70s Strat/JM Headstock.

I'm curious how your's is going to work out! :)

Thanks! That was my Rickenbacker experience as well. The real thing looked cool, but didn't sound how I wanted it to be and the neck felt different to me. Kinda too big. :) I think this will work out since it should sound like how I want and the neck is one I like already. :)

Sorry if this has been answered but where did you get the template?

A friend made it from a internet picture of the bass. :)

Did some sanding and wiring today. I am missing my neck plate and pickguard screws to get it finished. :)

Pickguard, bridge pickup, and jack plate screwed down. Straplocks added. Just missing the neck plate.

That looks great Chris!! When it's done, you should get a picture of it next to your double-cut LP/Jag hybrid ;D 8)

Just as a random aside, that body would look really nice with an aftermarket aluminum neck.

Funny issue happened after screwing everything down. The tone pot for the neck pickup started acting odd. At full it was bassy and then at like 8 it would go to treble and act normal as I turned it for more bass. I opened it up and it looked good and tested the pot again and it was fine. I am guessing the metal covered Gibson pickup wire was touching the pot legs and shorting it out. I moved the wire a bit and closed it up. All good now. How annoying. LOL

Seconded, been thinking that since the start.

Finished! It sounds great. I like Gibson's ceramic humbuckers.
