This looks like fun, are you making this one from scratch yourself? What woods are you going to use? Maple and maple like the originals? lets have some more details!
Always wish I had bought a 480/481 before the prices went silly.

made by adult swim, not gianax.
Nah, made by Production IG, the people who have never met a horse to dead to beat. I really have no idea if I can bring myself to watch it, the mess they turned Ghost In the Shell into leaves me less then optimistic. Third season, FLCL Alternative, starts this month I believe.
I suspect this thread will be better then either sequels.
I am going to have it made out of alder. Looking at the Rick neck pocket makes me even more happy that I am doing this build vs buying a Rick and trying to mod it into what I want. There is barely any body wood under that neck. Makes me think of Hi Fliers. The neck pocket will be much thicker in mine and will probably be lighter since I am going alder and not maple.
I haven't seen Progressive yet. I know they went with the pillows for music again, so I know I will like that part at least.

It is slopped and a fair bit thicker at the heel end, I suspect the Rick neck pocket is stronger than the standard Fender despite the reduced thickness, it is fully support on both sides since it is completely within the body. Keeping the neck from pivoting in the pocket is very important to strength, if the neck can pivot in the pocket it acts as a lever putting a great deal of stress on the screws and their holes.
Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

Yeah and it's a very tight fit, this guitar is almost 40 years old and still rock solid. The neck has a long tenon too and it runs the full length of the pocket.

The pocket will go under the neck and the body will slightly curve to it on the left and right like a high flier.

Me as well! My favorite part about doing stuff like this. I have a list of things I want that I send over to a builder and they interpret it into something real. I have never been disappointed. Often I am surprised about how it all comes together. It is such a cool feeling to hold something real you imagined in your head. I feel lucky to have some guitars like this that were made for me with the features and looks I wanted.

I'd say "put a trem on it!" but I like hardtails too. Will this be string-thru?

Bridge marked and neck pocket set up. It is looking pretty sweet. I am excited to see it start to get some of the other details.

The real one is actually not as big as you might think, the overall size is similar to a JM. What
is huge is the headstock. And contrary to some info out there which says it's smaller, the 480 body is identical in size to the 400x bass.
Not that I want to clog up your build thread.
