Anyone Here Use The Graphtech Tusq Jag/Jazz/Mustang Saddles?

Post by August » Thu Aug 02, 2018 6:50 am

Just looking for input from users. Wondering if they're less bright, better slip for vibrato use etc. Currently using Staytrems, who I kind of wish would make their barrel saddles in various materials for experimenting (brass in particular, my Tele go-to).

I use graphite in two non trem tune o matic guitars. On my SG I used to break 2 and 3 strings at a time before the replacement. Now hardly ever. On my talman the low E saddle got thrashed, so I went with what I knew.

I don't hear any difference in tone, but the graphite saddles have held up much better than the originals.

I've been using them on my CIJ JM since 2005. I like them because it's a bright guitar and it softens it a bit. The strings don't slip out of the bridge even when playing hard.
Just notice that I mounted them backward : the spring hole is too big and the screw can't stay well in the saddle. Reverse the saddle and the spring won't move and the guitar will stay in tune. ;)

I've played a few and felt like I was playing on a guitar with roundwounds. The acoustic tone was definitely dampened, though the amplified tone (to me) seemed minimally affected.

I have graphtech saddles on my strat, and I really like them in that application.

Some people like the sound, some hate it. I haven't found it to affect my strat's sound at all, and certainly less than the pickups and big ol' brass trem block I stuck in there. It sounds damn good, saddles and all. Nice and stratty.

The big thing with the mustang saddles as I see it is that the fucking things don't really fit. There are those gaps between. Bleah. Janky.
This is an excellent rectangle
