Interesting shape??

Post by kdanie » Wed Jul 18, 2018 3:45 pm

I'm kind of digging the shape this cute little thing from Eastwood... I'm thinking a set of G&L Z coils, 24" scale and it could be my new "couch guitar" if I shorten the butt a bit. I've even got some nice alder in the shop looking for a home.

Yeah, I think that looks pretty cool. It's like 60's modern.

For a couch guitar, I would think you'd want something you could actually rest on your lap - that thing is like a "V" and will slide right off! lol

I've got an Eastwood Custom Moderne on order, so I'm in the same boat. The Backlund designed guitars are always interesting although I like the practicality of the Jeff Senn model.
Twang, Reverb, and Echo - it's where it's AT!

That may be true, I'll have to draw it out, make the template and try it out and see how it works. It it fails the couch test it's only some MDF and I've got plenty of that lying around the shop.

True, good point. Fun guitar to look at though. I was looking at Fender Katanas the other day (why? I don't know. :w00t: )

Mid-century chic is definitely in right now.

John Backlund's designs are really cool, and if you find that this won't be a nice couch guitar, he's got a big back catalog with designs that may suit you better but channel the same feel / look.

Good luck with the build! I love that this forum thinks out of the box once in a while (and doesn't just build tele's / les pauls ad nauseum...).

Thanks, I like that top one. Shrink it down a bit and use a "really short scale" mini strat neck and it would be pretty cool when I travel in my RV.
