Re: Double header build: BMM Build and CP Renovation! (All done!)
I like the bridge quite a lot. This guitar has loads of sustain!l and a beautiful sound. I have a Stainless Steel version of this one on my CP JM and an Aluminum one on my hollow body and they work great. I haven’t switched them out for an AB comparison, but I’ll try that soon. The tuning stability is good on this one as far as I can tell. I’ve had ZERO issues with the SS one on my other guitar. I’m having some stiffness in the motion of the AVRI trem on this guitar (the trem on my CP is much smoother), but I don’t think it has anything to do with the brass bridge.

Good stuff!
I'd be very keen to know the results of the experimenting.

Antisymmetric,
I'll get around to bridge-swapping soon enough. It would be easy enough to do just by loosening the strings. I'll see if I'm able to make some passable recordings that reveal anything.
Can I gush about the Micawber pickup set that Tim Esau at Sunday Handwound Pickups made for this thing? They sound so full, present, and beautiful. I can't get over how clear the neck pickup sounds, but with some heft and authority at the same time. No mud, no overly compressed mush, just an excellent humbucker sound. The Tele pickup at the bridge twangs like I would have hoped. The middle position may be my favorite, though. When combined, the Tele and Humbucker pickups really give up the chime on this guitar. I'm really into it! I've been playing different stuff on this guitar, so far. I'm kind of going in a Chris Isaak direction with my chords and, gasp, noodling around with some lyrical solo stuff in the neck position! Well done, Mr. Esau!

Man that it just gorgeous. Really well done on both counts!
Have you checked the intonation with a tuner? How close is it when fretted at the 12th? That bridge probably sustains like crazy, but I'm so obsessive about intonation that I've never been able to get along with fixed-saddle bridges like that before. I'm curious as to how close you can get with that fixed compensation it has.

That is amazing! Congrats on a killer build! Kinda thinking about a Compton for a JM build now...

Good question!
My scientific determination is that this is close enough for rock n roll, but let me give you some numbers. I normally use 11s with a wound third, but right now, the guitar is strung with 11s with a plain 3rd. Assuming that the strings are in tune with a strobe tuner (or annoyingly close!), here’s what I have at the 12th fret:
E 6.3 cents sharp
A 4.3 cents sharp
D 1.8 cents flat
G 1.6 cents sharp
B .9 cents sharp
e 1.6 cents flat
On my TC Polytune, the only one that is not “in tune” at the 12th fret is the low E. I have yet to play this particular guitar in a band setting, but none of my band mates grimace when I play my other Compton equipped guitars. Then again, we’re not professionals (except for the bass player and Saxophone player) so maybe our needs are different. Let me know what you think about those intonation numbers. I’m curious to see what people who do this professionally prefer.
