High output pickup replacement for Fender Jaguar
Hi guys, I'm looking to replace the bridge pickup in my Fender Jaguar for something with more output to suit what I like playing.
The only condition is that it has to fit into the body without any routing modifications.
I was looking at the hot rails but people were saying that slight routing is required.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a decent "humbucker like" pickup that would fit a Jaguar?
Thanks!

Do those single-size strat humbucker pickups fit?

Re: High output pickup replacement for Fender Jaguar
I'm not sure, from what I've read online, Strat size pickups are a little too large for the Jaguar cavity but I don't have any first hand experience of this and I've found that some people say they fit and some people say they don't so there is a lot of conflicting information.
I am tempted to just buy a strat sized humbucker and see if it fits and if it doesn't, just return the pickup.
But if I was doing that, I wouldn't know what pickup to buy, my first thoughts would be a hot rails or a JB JR

You might want to look into the SD Quarter Pound for Jaguar. It's obviously not a humbucker if that's what you're looking for, but I had a set installed in my partsguar and the bridge PU was beautifully gritty and grimy. The neck PU, on the other hand, was so hot it couldn't be screwed down low enough to get rid of the muddiness and string pull.
I also have a QP for Strat installed in the bridge position of a Mustang/Duo-Sonic mutt and I love it there as well.

Any strat-sized pickup that doesn't have the triangular baseplate will fit in a Jaguar. I recently put three EMG active single coils in my Bass VI. You'll end up with space around the pickup unless you buy a new pickguard. For example, the Wilde L290SL and 298SL, or any colour Lace Sensor, lack the "triangle" and would fit.

Ten or so years ago I bought a Jag off eBay that had something like this in it.
It required no mods, and I was easily able to switch it back to a correct pickup.

Honestly, there are way cheaper humbuckers that will fit that form factor. $150 for a dual-coil strat pickup is exorbitant.oliver9419 wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 10:49 amThat actually looks really cool and i like the description of it, i'll have to watch some demo's!
