My old Mahogany Jaguar build and new hollowbody jazzmasterish project
Hey I'm Clint I've been a longtime lurker but I decided to join in all the offset fun. I built a mahogany jaguar from warmoth parts and I'm currently building a hollowbody jazzmasterish offset. The top is cyprus flooring from a Frank Lloyd Wright boathouse. The sides are goin to be rosewood from an old acoustic I don't use. The back is mahogany I'm taking from another old acoustic. I'm planning to use a compton aluminum bridge modified to work with jazzmaster cups. Its going to have a mahogany center block and bracing.

I got overzealous and wanted to see what it looks like with paint on it. I'm still debating whether I should use This Lime Ice color or go for a gold sparkle finish. I'm also considering a transparent orange over gold sparkle.

I'm sacrificing this old acoustic for the rosewood sides I stripped all the finish off already and I'm about to cut it.

I glued the mahogany center block/neck pocket before I started routing the top. I had it at a half inch it was originally 1' Cyprus flooring now I'm routing the top down to about 3/16' but leaving a few areas like around the tremolo mounting area and around the outside so I have something to attach the sides to.

Well that's something you don't see everyday.

I worked on a Frank Lloyd Wright house up in Delavan Wisconsin. The Cyprus is flooring that was used on the huge upper deck of the boat house. It was a beautiful property there was the mainhouse which was a mansion one of the living rooms was about 1600 square feet. Then there was a four bedroom gatehouse by the road and a stable with servants quarters upstairs. Cyprus seems similar to swamp ash so I figured it'd work well for guitar. I can't wait to play this thing

Why destroy an old acoustic and bend the sides straight just to get a piece of rosewood? A full set of back and sides is available for like $90...

Cypress should do well, curious to see how rebending of those sides works out, never seen anyone attempt such a massive change in shape of repurposed sides before.
