Ooo I like that. I was going to suggest something in the Gretsch Cat's Eye / Rickenbacker vein, but that works just as well and is its own thing. Nice.

Re: Starcaster build! (Again)
Got the soundholes cut today. I'm super excited with how good they look, need a bit of work with some files to even out the corners from the routing but its better than I was expecting.

Cut the control cavity access panel. Going to use a plastic cover but I think I'll line the inside with a thin maple veneer so that no plastic shows through the sound holes. Got the rear roundover done too, binding next!

Re: Starcaster build! (Again)
Thanks man!
Im getting super excited to see this with some stain on. Just the sanding has shown that this is some really pretty maple.
Its not actually too heavy either considering its a large body guitar made entirely of maple, bonus!

Re: Starcaster build! (Again)
The routing work is now all done, got the binding channel routed. Going to try and use acetone to glue it on, rather than actual glue which ive used before, to make it less likely theres any residue to mess with the stain finish. Doesn't look to be any more difficult.
Once thats done apart from drilling a few (very important) holes it will be ready to start working on the finish. Excited to see how this wood looks with some colour on

The f hole design is brilliant. I think it will really pop with the burst.

Enjoying watching this come along and good to see you building again. Liking the addition of the Mustang trem! Going to be using acetone to install some binding soon too as came to the same conclusion about glue. I'll probably still manage to make a massive mess!

Re: Starcaster build! (Again)
This was easier than I expected, apart from my thumbs feeling mildly burnt and a slight chemical fume headache
There might be a couple of little areas that need filling in, but I have some binding clippings melting in a jamjar of acetone to deal with that.
Fingers crossed when I get the tape off later or tomorrow there are no surprises but I dont expect any problems.
