Re: Coodercaster Build
OMG I wanna build one of these now!
Looking great! Everything about that. I like the look of the silverfoil up top and those brown knobs are awesome. I had those on a JM for a bit and found them both aesthetically pleasing and very convenient to use.

I don't know about the knobs... They look a tad... Small? Maybe?
What are your thoughts on the foil?! I NEED ANSWERS

i like the foil! I like the knobs too. Let your eyes get used to them. I love how much space is between them too. Not cluttered at all. (I love pedals that are that way too.)

True...
White pick guard, though? Maybe I should get a maple neck for this guitar instead of looking for rosewood fretboard neck for my Jazzmaster?

Re: Coodercaster Build
The white guard looks cool imo. Whatever you decide, you should absolutely stick to a "cheapish" one-ply material. If not white, maybe a thin transparent guard with back painting or some sort of a swirlish metallic foil like some Danelectros.
Mint guards are usually three-ply materials, which imo doesn't fit with the knobs and pickups.

Re: Coodercaster Build
I think 1 ply white is still in the running, rather than mint (which, you're right, would not work well with the knobs and pickups). I don't want to go too crazy with it, but I also don't want it to look boring.

Re: Coodercaster Build
One ply white is my first choice.
Agree that it shouldn't be mint or multi-ply.
What about a one-ply tort?
Bakelite?

One ply tort, like a Les Paul Junior? Or tort like Ry Cooder's? The latter is quite close to being a satin blouse-wearing blues lawyer...
Bakelite? Like, black Bakelite? :0
Also, and I don't think I'll be using these for this guitar, but I found these knobs at work just randomly:

Those knobs are pretty interesting. I think I still prefer the barrels just because they're easy to use and feel symmetrical on the fingers.
And yes...Black Bakelite.
Or one ply acoustic type tort. I feel like I've seen it somewhere. It almost looks deep reddish brown but would pop with white under it.

Re: Coodercaster Build
I think I'll stick with a 1 ply white guard for now. Probably for the best. I really do not want to spend too much money! I refuse to allow this guitar to be a rabbithole.

White one ply will be the easiest and lowest cost.
So American flag or bald eagle pickguard is not an option for you?

I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

They're pretty much an oxblood color, right?
Love the color but not digging the shape. YMMV of course! I personally like round knobs that i can roll with the side of a finger. So I'm always a big fan of a wider knob or something with a substantial grip.
