Looks great. Can’t wait to see more progress.

I’m also working on a NR body from Rosser. I’ll get to join the club soon too.
Oh, that is a beauty!

Does it have an arm contour? Did you add that in, or do the NRFBT models have one?
I added the arm contour and belly contour. Adding clear today. Still looking for a neck. My 2nd Rosser body.

Oh interesting. I guess I’ll see how sorry I am that it doesn’t have them once I’ve played it a bit...

Honestly for me it’s more of an aesthetic thing anyways. And I got a little carried away with the forearm contour, it’s pretty thin there now.

Ok. It’s the next day and I was still disappointed with the blue. It just wasn’t looking how I had hoped. It felt... boring...

Then I had a brainstorm.

No, that is not a reflection. I have sprayed clouds onto the blue.

Now when I look at it I smile and get excited. So much happier.

Might call it the Skycaster or Skymaster or something. Heh.

Random: are non-reverse Firebirds even technically offsets?

It’s basically done! (Strap buttons and pick up height aside)

I am not 100% sold on the pickups, we’ll see how it performs at practice tomorrow night. They are a lot brighter than the Tonerider P90s in My (main) kit guitar... sounds closer to my VM Jaguar, but maybe even clearer? Might also be a tad microphonic. :/

Tomorrow night at full volume will be the decider. If it’s a 👎, then I’ll order some GFS P90s. The kwikplug harness will make it easy to try different pickups, at least.

Looks good. I got clear on mine this weekend and ordered the rest of the parts needed to finish mine. So maybe next weekend.

Yeah, I had some problems to overcome.. the biggest being the lengths of the wires on the prebuilt GFS harness. I had to widen a hole that was for the volume pot and put the three way switch there, then put the pot in the hole for the switch. Luckily the washer for the pot was big enough to cover the hole and keep it stable.

I think I actually like it better with the switch where it is though.

The neck is awesome and the action is pretty great, even with almost no tweaking. I am so used to mismatched radius that this almost feels like cheating ;)

It has the StayTrem and a roller string tree... so it stays in tune pretty well, but I’d like to get a Graphtec nut in there too. But this is great for now.

GFS Gold Foil update... pickup height was key. I brought them down a bit and it dialled back a lot of that intense treble I was hearing. They now sound more like a best-of-both-worlds between my VM Jag and the Tonerider p90s in my other build.

I am so in love with this guitar right now, it is ridiculous.

Really looking forward to practice tonight.

I'm also working on a Non-Reverse Firebird clone, with some Jazzmaster DNA thrown in.

I like it. But if it was mine it had black pickup covers and black Gibson reflector knobs.

This is so tight! I can't really vibe with the super cream parts on stark white guard tho.

Yeah, I am still a tad unsure about them as well. One possibility would be to coffee/tea soak the guard a bit...

I was actually sure I changed my order to chrome covers at the last minute, but I guess I didn't, haha.

I might still get some chrome covered ones and swap these into my other project guitar.

That would also let me use some black and silver witch hat knobs I have... I still need to play around with all of that.

Interesting side note... I like the look of the gold foils but the sound isn't for everyone... maybe even not for me, hah.

But I did a search and no one makes p90 covers that mimic that look. I think that would be really cool... so I am going to see if I can figure out how to do it myself... either with a router/drill press or via 3d printing at Shapeways, etc. p90 covers with various patterns cut out and a foil like something underneath. Might be fun.
