Art Jazzblaster Project Finished Pg. 3
I saw this body on Reverb and wanted it pretty bad. I like paint work like this, but it never looks good when I try to do it. (Sort of like stickers on a guitar. I like when other people do it, but it looks lame to me when I do it....) I have pickups coming in and a neck. Everything else is there.

Re: Art Jazzblaster Project
That's pretty cool!
It looks like it has been used as a palette... I always like the way used palettes look. Maybe find an art college in your area and see if they will take some bodies and use them as palettes? Then you could exhibit the finished guitars in a gallery show and auction them off!!

That thing is gorgeous. I love those type paint jobs too but can never pull it off.HNB wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 4:46 pmI saw this body on Reverb and wanted it pretty bad. I've always wanted something like this Jag but can never get it quite right. Are you leaving it as is or adding a Jazzmaster trem?

We are merely moving shadows.

Leaving it as is bridge wise. Just adding pickups and a neck.

Re: Art Jazzblaster Project
Started working on the headstock paint work. The neck had some chunks missing because of the guy who drilled the tuner holes. I used Elmer's wood epoxy to fill them in. Going to do some different acrylic paints with similar colors before I give a headstock decal a try. Hopefully it goes well. The headstock was a mess anyways, so I am not out much.

That body is amazing.
I also love that style.
Is the neck a lefty?

I laughed out loud at "this machine kills blues dads".
The "it always looks dumb when I do it" syndrome is super relatable, too...
Anyway, I'm excited to see where this goes, I always like how you're cobbling something or another together.

This is an excellent rectangle

Re: Art Jazzblaster Project
Did more work on the headstock. I am pretty happy with it. I taped a line to get blue. Then I taped a line for the red end. I used a pencil to do some red dots. I rubbed the black on with my fingers so there are some fingerprints on it. I borrowed the wife's letter stamps to do my "decal" and drew a division symbol in white with a tooth pick. The quote under Eleventh Division says "experience is not what happens to you. it's what you do with what happens to you." Tomorrow I will brush or wipe on some poly to kind of protect the acrylic paint.

Re: Art Jazzblaster Project
Wiped a coat of poly on over the acrylic. Tomorrow I will do a second coat. That should be good. No waterslide to bury.

I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.
