Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Mail delivery !!!!
What is that?
Focus:
New packaging and new color:
And what is inside?
(there was goodies and candies also)
And inside those cute little bags?
A PAIR OF FIREBIRD SIZED GOLDFOILS WITH XII VOX PIKUPS GUTS !!!!!!
So happy.
The pickups are beautiful and they should sound as I like, meaning as a 60's XII Vox guitar.
Getting closer here!
Just waiting from the last bits from Dan (a pickguard and the control plate) and it will be done.
Can't wait !
Should also order some strings

Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Thanks guys !!!
Hopefully, it will be done before the end of the first week of this upcoming year...
Yay !!!
In the meantime, I did a bit of work on the Coronado. And I have to say I didn't expect this result :
I had everything but electronic and planned to cut the body for a second pickup...a pair of lipsticks was what I wanted to put into that guitar body, which will be also refinished.
The gear wallet being empty I knew this project wouldn't have start before at least six months.
Suddenly I realised I had a spare '64 Mosrite harness with everything AND a spare '75 Fender Strat pickup.
So I put them into the guitar !!
And this is what I didn't expect : the sound is phenomenal !!!!!!!! It feels like it's an acoustic guitar, with no real frequency peaks, and with the extra thing that makes you know it's not an acoustic guitar but an electric one.
It's perfect, it fills a void in my sound arsenal, and a big one I tried to fill for years.
I'm very happy.
The Coronado project is taking another path afterall. I will keep it that way and just refinish the body, and change that pickup cover for another one with no holes. And play with an aditional pickup ring (I guess, just an idea). Gear wallet is happy too !!
Oh and I had very very old and beautiful radio knobs, they found their way here too.
PICS (shitty ones, sorry)!!

Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Wow, such awesome projects! Always been a big fan of the maverick body too. I really love those radio knobs they look great.
Also, despite being a different guitar and a different setuo,I know what you mean about the hollow body with the strat pickup. I recently got a 60s eros 12 string acoustic (basically an eko ranger 12) and put a strat pickup in the sound hole and its such a good sound. You can hear the hollow nature of the guitar but it's a very special sound unlike any other guitar I have!
Great projects, can't wait to see more!

Re: XII (DONE !!!!! ) and JM and Coronado projects
AND THE MAVERICK XII IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETED !!!! DONE !!!!
I'm stoked and happy and this is the end of an adventure, which is always a good and weird feeling.
The guitar is everything I dreamt of : beautiful (to me), awesome sounding and easy to play.
It was quite something when I got Dan's last pieces. I did some adjustment work, the wiring (I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, the guitar is dead silent, no hum, no anoying electrical sound ) and a quick setup and it was done.
I can't stop playing that guitar since the last 5 days, it's awesome and perfect.
pics now !!
(some seem to be the same but they are not, it's just to get an idea of the "very hard to capture" color)
As you can see, I had some extra radio knobs to put on it. They fit perfectly with the overall design...cream and gold.
Well, having an electric XII is a great addition to my sound.
I'm thinking about what to do next now
The Coronado, for sure.
And then the JM...unless something else pop up !!
Oh, and also, even if it doesn't have split pickups, and even if it's custom made...I HAVE A MAVERICK !!!!! a XII one !!!!!

Amazing dude! So great to work with you on this and an honour to make parts for such an awesome project mated to a vintage neck. I love the radio knobs, they're the icing on the cake!

This is one of the coolest fantasy builds I've ever seen. If it had Fender pickups, I'd totally believe it as a prototype

Very cool build. I like your choices in color, PG, etc. It looks like total fun to play. Congrats on a fine idea carried out well.
