Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
I obviously love your room mcjt !!!!
Seeing your two coronados next to each other with original finishes makes me rethink what I had in mind.
The plan for mine is to Harmonysed it:
I've always had a thing for those Harmony Stratotone Jupiter, I love the sound and I worship the overall look.
But as you might know, they are extremely rare in EU and the asking prices are nuts.
As I didn't really like the sound of the stock pickups in the coronado I had before I thought I could make it sound and look like a Jupiter, using goldfoils and red/brown pickguard and pickup rings while keeping it natural, as it isn't right now.
But, I might refinish it in something else, like a very yellowed sonic blue or a very dark and wide sunburst. Will see!!!
The decision will be taken after the paint job on my Maverick XII anyway.
Can't wait for that one to be done btw!!!!
I've sourced all the pieces I need (as for the coronado actually), I just need to buy the pickup sets for both projects now.
How exciting is it!!!!

Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Got some parts for the Coronado :
'64 Kay tailpiece and bridge.
I mucho much prefer the look of that tailpiece over the original ones that came with the Coronados.
And, it works, shape and fit speaking.
The bridge is as simple as it looks.
I love it.
I also had a '64 Kay pickguard too :
Not a perfect fit, but I do like the overall look of it on the body.
Soooo...
The plan has changed already.
I'll go with lipsticks...I'll have to cut a bridge pickup hole into it.
I know...I should not do this.
But I deeply missed my first Coronado that left 3 or 4 months ago and I know I will keep that one, for a veeeeery long time.
The body shape is different from my previous one. It fits in the Vox case, the other one didn't
It's somehow easier to play also...for me.
The overall sound is excellent unplugged and I found one of my favorite necks back.
Can't be happier.
I have stupid ideas for the finish...rexter, if you are reading this, you'll have to work with me again after the MavXII body...if you want to !!!

Who built the Maverick body? Dan? Jazzprod?

Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Just reading this now Raph! That the Coronado body from Will? Was tempted by that, looking great so far!
For those not in the know, this is Raph's Deed_Poll Maverick body - had 3 good coats of sealer so far (this is the thirstiest wood I've ever encountered I think) ... but later this week it will be Desert Sand, followed by some kind of custom mixed Tahitian Coral/Fiesta colour right Raph??

Hey Jon,
This is beautiful ...
Yep that's it. Custom Tahitian Coral / Fiesta (that's a good idea!!) / super faded CAR body color...
Over Desert Sand...
That's it.
hmm.
CAN'T WAIT !!!!!
I'll shoot you an email to talk about the "former will's" Coronado body finish ideas

Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Hey,
Long time with no update.
But there are some .
I ordered the pickups today, from MojoPickups.
Reminded me that I didn't post anything when I got the body !!!
Both Dan and Jon did great. I mean it. Trully. It wouldn't had been possible without their work.
I'm very very happy :
And with the neck :
Ok I know, OSG is a bit on the fence these days about relicing, but I asked Jon to do a relic job to match the parts I have, to match my other guitars, and to match what I like. I hate pristine and mint things. I don't use them.
All my furnitures, plates, shoes, the car - actually pretty everything I own - have dents, scratches, beaten up look or is yellowed or old.
I love it that way and I find this state of things to be very beautiful.
I debated a lot with myself about asking for a new thing to look old and beaten up.
I'm glad I did. I know what this guitar is. Or will be actually.
And the color is stunning in person !!!!!
Anyway,
I'm waiting for more parts from Dan and I'll have to drill some holes, order some strings and it'll be done !!!

Re: XII and JM anc Coronado projects
Hey Raph! Great to see the XII come together with the neck! I really can't wait to see it with more parts to put it in context. Glad you like it as I'm always a little nervous doing a heavy relic. The colour looks really col in your pictures, i think that mix really worked!
Looking forward to seeing more of this and hope all is well my friend
