Metal pickup covers for Jaguar
Anyone know where I can find metal pickup covers for my Jaguar? Nickel, aluminum, silvery, whatever...
Have looked all over with no luck.
Thanks.

If you don't find any you could use that "mirror effect" spray paint
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Thought about this but it is a last resort option...FightingPlankton wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 4:51 pmIf you don't find any you could use that "mirror effect" spray paint

This seems to be the closest thing I could find.

The creamery is probably a way to go...
Or do you want something like this? It's an open frame.
I haven't seen this very model in action - but when I first saw my bandmate's Teisco - this one has white pickups with open rings like these.
Looks absolutely killer!

Re: Metal pickup covers for Jaguar
I think I’ve seen a thread on here about fitting chrome Strat PU covers on Jag pups before.
Edit: Sorry, I remembered wrong. I've seen two instances of chrome PU covers on Jag pups:

This member used spray paint, but seemed to have trouble with getting the paint to cure.

The images are gone thanks to Photobucket, but this guy had chrome PU covers. Unfortunately he hasn't logged in for about a year and a half now.

I know that Curtis Novak does chromed jazzmaster pickup covers. It might be worth asking if he could do a jag set.

Re: Metal pickup covers for Jaguar
The Creamery Sonic 60's covers are made of brass. If they even fit a standard bobbin, and he's willing to sell them (both question marks), they WILL lop off high end like a Tele neck pickup. There's a reason tons of people remove the covers from telecaster neck pickups (which are chrome plated brass) - it opens up the tone a lot. A Jag will get a whole lot darker with them, which may end up sounding very different from how you wanted.JONFROMJERSEY wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2018 9:38 amWow thanks guys! Creamery would not sell me the metal covers.
Giving up hope for now.

OSG member ThePearDream has put various of his jaguar pickup cover designs on Shapeways (regular, no-hole, slotted Yamaha SG style, double). One of their options is "polished metallic plastic).JONFROMJERSEY wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 1:30 pmCreamery would not sell me the metal covers.

I cannot vouch for what that would look like in person (certainly rougher than a chromed PU cover), but it's the closest thing I think you will find, and it won't ruin your pickup's tone like a true metal cover would. This is a direct link to a metallic standard cover. No relaionship with the seller, just trying to provide you with options!

Re: Metal pickup covers for Jaguar
Thanks for the plug mbene085.
I looked into this a bit the other day. Shapeways has some actual metal options for 3d printing. But, these materials require a thicker wall along the sides. The only direction to expand is outward, meaning the claw won't fit, (not that the claw would be necessary on a metal cover). Anyway, I did work out a claw-less jag cover that passed all of Shapeways' requirements, but they'd be $50 a pop, which is a lot of money to spend for worse tone. Really, it's no surprise that such a niche product as metal jaguar pickup covers don't exist yet.
I think you'll have better luck trying to find a metal strat cover (which will fit jaguar pickups). There is a seller on Reverb - Forney Custom - that is selling aluminum strat covers, 3 for around $30. I've bought some stainless steel tremolo arms from them before, and the quality was top notch.

Re: Metal pickup covers for Jaguar
If you're going the strat pickup cover route, you can also cheap out on something like these. I put strat-sized EMGs in my Bass VI, and the cover fit the outside FYI. The only thing strat pickup covers lack are square corners and larger tabs around the screw holes, so there's a small gap around the sides of you use a stock pickguard.
