Considered a Firebird headstock? Fits the Explorer vibes of the body maybe.

Re: Saint Vincent style!
Just as cool as Annie Clark herself! And kudos for thinking of using the one good looking thing in what might be the worst-looking guitar in the whole Fender catalogue otherwise. A Katana-style headstock is a great idea, it'll look much better here than on the Squier (and look much better than the St. Vincent headstock too!)

Re: Saint Vincent Done Right!
I really like where you're going with this- always liked the the concept of the original except for that head stock. It kept the brand identity I guess, but it would be easy to imagine some conflict between the design and marketing/ bean counting divisions...
A Katana-inspired headstock looks natural and sort of inevitable (would be great to see it matching- maybe with a little slash of pickguard colour in there as well?) The knobs following the bevel is a cool touch too. Nice all round!
(^^I've kind of renamed your thread btw... )

Re: Saint Vincent style!
Except it will have a three a side Dano neck/headstock.......sorry!
I'm going for an "inspired by" vibe, something along the lines of "if Danelectro built Annie a guitar" Dano have made some pretty far out stuff over the years....

This is really interesting, can't wait to see how it turns out. I love the St Vincent guitar, would own one but like many others on here I can't stand the Ernie Ball headstock, its good to someone addressing this.
A St Vincent signature built in the style of a Dano or Tele is a great idea.

Re: Saint Vincent style!
I think the Danelectro headstock Paul has planned will look really good. It's completely symmetrical and has a little triangular point at the top of it

Re: Saint Vincent style!
Just been looking at the headstock pages in my copy of Neptune Bound and I think I've spotted the one. Could be kind of cool for another reason as well from a name- mashup point of view- chances are the headstock was designed by VINCENT Bell.

Re: Saint Vincent style!
All has now been mocked up and test fitted, since the photos the bridge has been modded to three saddle top loader...A lucky co-incidence is that the angled edges of the bridge plate match the bevels on the body, it got two coats of primer yesterday and is currently hanging over a radiator in its first coat of paint.......one little run...DOH!
Managed to source some chrome P90 covers which I think suit this guitar better than cream or black, white speed knobs and switch tip tie in with the tuner buttons and scratchplate..
Oh and one minor disaster, the neck pocket was too deep, so I made a quarter inch Mahogany shim...totally my fault not the builder!.....

Re: Saint Vincent style!
I’ve wanted a St. Vincent since they were released but those bodies were just way too small...

Re: Saint Vincent style!
The body looks bigger than it is, but in this instance its not dissimilar to a Strat, although my body outline ws traced from an online image, which was probably not a true to scale image..
