Jazzmaster small strat headstock
Hey everyone this is my first post on the site, your guys guitars are amazing!
Its just a quick question to ask has anyone got a jazzmaster or a pic of a jazmaster with a small strat headstock? i have a beloved strat neck that id love to put onto a double bound jazzmaster body that i want to get built, not too sure whether it would end up looking too small and out of proportion?
cheers everyone

Re: Jazzmaster small strat headstock
I play a CIJ JM body with a maple strat neck.
It does not look "that" akward to me. And I love that neck more then the stock neck.
Since the JM headstock is not "that" much bigger it does not look out of proportion. You don't notice it unless it sits next to another JM imo.
So, go for it!!!!

Re: Jazzmaster small strat headstock
Thank you so much for all your help, seriosuly thinking about getting it done!
Another quick question, how would a double bound flat edged jazzmaster play? ala (i have a thing for double binding!) as i dont own a jazzmaster (but have played a few in the local guitar shop) i wonder would the binding be a problem with the shape of the body when it comes to rubbing on your arm? or would it be comfortable at all? im not really looking for great sitting comfort but its just when standing up? (i know sometimes my tele gives me a bit of rub on the lower forearm, although nothing thats too much of a problem)
Thanks again
Adam

Re: Jazzmaster small strat headstock
It depends really. If you go for a double bound body, I supose you wont do the tummycut and armrest. my "Kimaxe-thinlie" Jazzmaster clone has a singel top binding, no tummy or amrrest. It feels a bit akward at first. Less comfortable then a regular JM imo. But once you get past it, it plays and feels very nice.

I usually did. Right palm ripped open by brigde screws, forearm black and blue. Starting to get into a bit of fingerpicking helped the issue a bit.cestlamort wrote:+1. Yep. Yep. Yep.northern_dirt wrote: I had to wear a sock on my wrist when I played a Rickenbacker 4001 bass..

Re: Jazzmaster small strat headstock
i used to have a strat neck on my white jazzmaster:
i'm personally not very fond of the look, i think the headstock is too small, that's why i now have a neck with a reshaped CBS headstock on it.
