My new Body from Our own Deed_Poll
So i got an awesome message today, I thought Id share the build pics he has sent me! Its the thinline custommaster body but solid, with a Jazzy bridge and Trem, and ROASTED ASH!!!!

Hey Nate!
So I cut the body today! Here are some progress pics as promised
Picking the blank
Front
Back
Back with reference holes and neck bolt holes (better to pre-cut these from the back to avoid an exit wound!)
Flipped over to the front with pegs in the reference holes and cutting the neck pocket, thimble holes and the pickup & control routes
Then I put a plywood plug in the neck pocket to prevent it from tearing out while I cut the outline and release the body from the blank
The cut has gone beautifully, now we can see that gorgeous end grain
And here she is with some IPA on to see the likely colour after your finish.
I still have to do the 1/8" roundovers on the front and back of the body and I'll cut the pickguard tomorrow as well.
Hope you like what you see! Feel free to post these pictures in a build thread when it comes to it. That would actually be awesome on my end
Also the invoice should be sent tomorrow, sorry that's taken a little while. I will just need a contact telephone number for the courier when I come to pack it up.
Cheers!
Dan

Re: My new Body from Our own Deed_Poll
Thanks guys! Im insanely excited.! Its getting a single ply black guard and I have a couple WRHB's for it. Im dropping in a Johnny Marr Bridge and Tremolo from my Jazzy and putting something different on it. The neck going on is a Warmoth Fatback tele neck with a true oil finish and a ebony board with abalone dot inlays. It should be a killer guitar when its done.

Re: My new Body from Our own Deed_Poll
Cheers guys! Yeah I can't wait to see this one finished either. It's a really beautiful piece of the heat treated ash. It's actually the next board along from your Jag Bass body, Jason! And the pickguard is cut from the same material as the POST twinsies!
So Nate's concept with this was to go with the Deluxemaster Thinline but do it as a solid body, only keeping the Thinline pickguard shape instead of the large 4-knob Customaster / Deluxemaster style pickguard.
The plan is to use a 22 fret Tele neck so I moved the neck pickup slightly towards the bridge to allow for the overhanging fretboard and slightly reshaped the pickguard to fit the new pickup location. More on that tomorrow.
I also need to do the 1/8" roundover tomorrow as well. I popped my tester neck in to give the ergonomics a go and I really like this style without the contours - there's plenty to grab onto and the offset shape (for me at least) means it fits into my ribs easier than a Tele whilst still giving lots of support under the arm.

Im glad to hear about the ergonomics of the body! I love tele's to death but after a while they just dig in too much. I had the same issue with my Les Paul Custom. This body looks much comfier even without contours!

Checked my phone and got a nice surprise today! Pickguard is cut and Dan threw together a little mockup of it!
Deed_Poll wrote:Thu Dec 14, 2017 9:01 amPickguard is cut! Mocked it up with a Warmoth neck and JM vibrato
Still needs some sanding, but it will be ready very soon!
The protective material is still on the pickguard, it will be good and shiny when you take it off.
Cheers!
Dan
