Damn, that is looking hot!
It's giving me intense GAS for a candy plum jag with B&B...
Which pickguard are you putting back on the blue one? Mint green, like god intended?

I think the above idea of the plum (or purple, either one) with an anodized black guard would be

Yeah anodized black is the first thing that came to mind for something kinda different than the anodized aluminum that I've got.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2017 5:47 pmI think the above idea of the plum (or purple, either one) with an anodized black guard would be
I'd really love to get one the same look as the one on the Lee and Thurston signature series. I gotta have a tone control tho .

Re: Brainstorming Direction to take a MJT Candy Plum JM Body Project
Not a fan of mint green on anything actually lol. At least I don't think.
The black 3 ply is going back on the blue. It's the only guard I've got right now that isn't being used. It's a $9.99 from Stratosphere and is definitely not perfect. I'm sure someone on the board will know why/what model it might be partially attributed to to be causing this to happen. But the upper horn isn't exactly right. You can see that the contour is different than my CIJ and my Squier JM Special, and there's probably a 1/32 or 1/64 bit of space (it's small, but if you look closely you'll see) right near the rhythm circuit switch where you can see the route edging out underneath the guard.

How about like a Yamaha SGV-300? Double/two MFD coils near the bridge, single MFD at the neck?

If you added a series-parallel option and a 3-way toggle or Mustang switch, you could use them separately or as a humbucker...

Yeah so one of my thoughts was a pair of dual single's like Dipinto used to do on the Galaxie 2, and like they do in the bridge position of the Mach IVShadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 7:03 pmIf you added a series-parallel option and a 3-way toggle or Mustang switch, you could use them separately or as a humbucker...

Looks awesome with the single coils. Like a bigger, tougher version of the Jag.
The other thing I would want to do with this is probably do a thin charcoal grey coat over the top of the purple and wear it back so it's not so visually close to your other one. I love trashed guitars however.

I'm not sure there is anything that special about these pickups. From what I have read they are Jazzmaster pickups with the corners rounded and without a cover (like a Tele, in that way).

Even if that's the case, don't think anyone makes pickups with round bobbins at a wider width. I also don't think those are the same size as JM bobbins... it's more than just the ends rounded off.

They looks like Fender-ized (i.e. Alnico polepiece/bobbin-based) Tri-Sonics.
