^i agree. I thought gold would be in the lead, it also would be really cool.

Re: Charcoal Frost + which Pickguard ?
Received my gold pickguard this week and finally got to install it :
Looks really cool - totally brings out the green in the charcoal frost
Also it doesn't clash too much with the binding on the neck because the binding is slightly tinted
but I also love the dark tort and kinda like the pearloid too
tried on black without really installing it :
Thanks for all the suggestions - I'm a bit surprised that the poll has 3 favourites (tort, gold and mint) and one bit loser (white)
I guess I'll switch around between gold and tort - can't really decide for a final colour

Hey Nico - I think it looks beautiful! Good choice.
I am biased of course.

It obviously looks good with all of them, but I personally like the way that black guard looks the most!

I am using a black guard with the charcoal frost one I am building. I much prefer that color combo.
We are merely moving shadows.

Charcoal Frost and tort is an amazing combo, and I'm not one for tort on everything, but I'm surprised how GOOD that looks with the gold guard!! I love being surprised at how certain combinations make two separate colors look like a whole new thing, like the Bass VI someone here built/refinished a year or so back that was Shoreline Gold and mint

it's a Montreux TORLAM 66 JM Pickguard Dark Swirl - looks great but I think it has MIJ specs because some of the screw holes don't line up perfectly and the bridge posts were a tiny bit off too ... not much of a problem though with a file and if you don't mind drilling 3-4 screwholes...it can be made fit and you can't see any of the modifications when doneitcamefromiowa wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2017 4:47 pmWhere did you get that dark tort? totall - it's really interesting if you compare it to the tort on page 1 where the red seems to bring out the blue

As cool as the gold guard looks, that tort is just cooler.

Re: Charcoal Frost + which Pickguard ?
My CFM Strat came with a white pickguard + pickup covers (which looked pretty good), it now has a black pickguard + pickup covers (also looks pretty good). Back plate is still white though. Haven't tried anything else personally, or seen anything else in person. Internet photos don't always do things justice, but personally I avoid tortoise shell - it seems too common and dated (I feel the same about sunburst, as nice as it is).
But you are right about the gold bringing out the subtle green colour, it seems quite nice but then again I don't like the flat edge pickguards, I like the sloped bevel!
