Sunday handwound pickups on reverb?

Anyone have any experience with Sunday handwound pickups out of Georgia on reverb? They have an interesting jazzmaster set with alnico 5’s for the wound strings and alnico 2’s for the plain strings. Sound clip sounds good but experience is king! Thanks in advance !

I have a pair of Timothy's pickups in my 12-string that I got put together recently...

He was really easy to work with and designed a custom set based on what I thought would work best for a 12-string electric. They sound great. I recorded some samples if you want to check them out here...

I think they're great and rival the Antiquity II's in my Squire JM (and they were cheaper).

The owner was a regularly contributing member of OSG for years. I've owned several of his pickups (and a pedal), as have many other forum members. His pickups are very good, and he'll work with you to get a wind that matches your tonal preferences.

Perfect! Exactly what I was hoping to hear! Thanks guys, I’ll give Sunday a shot in my most recent JM build.

I have had a set from him for 3 years. Great pickups, and he's really easy to work with. Only reason I put them for sale is that I've been winding my own pickups for a while. Mine are probably not in the same league, but it's still fun and rewarding to play something you made by yourself.

By the way, the "woody set" (alnico II) by Timothy had great reputation on this forum. If I wanted to buy from him again, that's what I'd try.

I've got a few sets of his pickups. Tim's a class act.

Just put a triple p90 set in one of my builds. Sounds fantastic. Tim was great to work with and got my sonic request down very well!

Nice 12. What did you do for your pickups? I'm trying to decide on what to do for a Jazzmaster 12 I built, and the DD Squier pickups are way too hot for all extra steel from 6 more strings. Did you go underwound?

Thanks. These were his exact specs for what he felt would be best for the guitar (and it does sound great): "5% underwound Woodchime neck, Alnico 2 north up, 7600 turns cw 42awg Heavy Formvar.
5% underwound Sweet 52's bridge, Alnico 5 on the EAD, Alnico 2 on GBe, south up, 8750 turns ccw 42awg Heavy Formvar."

I'm not going to pretend I understand everything about that! They work well.

Thanks! I have contacted Tim and he recommended the 5% underwound Woodchime. I checked out his sound clips of the pickups and they are sound like what I am looking for. Something with the Jazzmaster sound, but a bit "softer/airier" to go with the 12 string sound. For the great price, it's stupid not to give them a try.

I thought about the Alnico 5 on the bridge EAD, but I think I'm going to keep this one light. I'm considering another 12 build with an SX body I have that I am considering P90s for.

Tim makes good stuff. I have a set of Woodchime + and Fat 5/2 +. He will work with you and your preferences (I like a10% overwind on bridge pups, hence the "+") and his prices are fantastic.

Simply the best jazzmaster pickups I have ever had the pleasure to play. (30+ Years ) I did a five percent over wind on the bridge to give it a smooth lead tone. The only other time I have had a manufacturer description of a pickup be this spot on was when Jason Lollar wound me a few sets for a pair of tele’s back a few years. Tim’s description, in reference to the split magnets, is perfect!! I can’t stop playing this guitar, and I am so relieved this was a build for myself and not a client or friend..... it would have to be mine regardless!!! You could easily pay double and get a far inferior product!!

Has anyone tried his Fat 52's or his low output Alnico 2 PAF’s for JM?

I messaged him about a set of pickups that will better suite my jazzy/soul band.
I've never liked humbuckers but I find my Antiquity IIs just too bright in the lead circuit and too muddy on the rhythm. He recommended either.

Hi, I'm also interested in the woodchimes or fat 52's for my Squier Partscaster Jazzmaster. I am leaning towards woodchimes for more authenticity and because of the sound sample. But if anyone can elaborate on the differences playing through dirt pedals, I'd appreciate it. Oh, and now the 10% overwind on bridge pups idea has infected my brain (now I think I need this spec too!)

I play through a bit of fuzz, overdrive, modulation, and delay with single coils into my blackface princeton amp at bedroom levels. And then occasionally just play clean through deluxe memory man for soul playing.

Cheers!

I just received mine. I haven’t had a chance to put them in my jazzmaster yet, but i’ll let you know. I don’t have any fuzz or overdrive, but I use wah, vibrato/modulation, so i can tell you how they handle that?

Before these even got to my door I ordered one of his low output PAFs for my Squier Afinity Jazzmaster.
