Worked on the back today. The left is with tung oil and the right not applied yet. Makes a big difference.

Pretty much all my parts except the nut are here. :) Can't wait for the neck and body to arrive.

Mmmmm ... maybe not 'case candy' ... but definitely plastic bag candy. ;)

What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

It is nice just to look at the mahogany. It is a great piece. Still doing tung oil coats.

That looks great so far! Wish he was still doing the carved starcaster bodies.

Did you do any fill on the body before the tung oil?

Really gorgeous body. Love the Gretsch look that oiled mahogany has now!

It came with some tung oil already on. I sanded it because it wasn't smooth and added a few coats of tung oil. I just sanded it some more today to smooth out some rough areas on the back and sides. It is kind of a fun process. You wipe on some coats, do a little sanding, and repeat until it is all nice and smooth and glossy. It takes a couple minutes twice a day and you can do it indoors and cure time is way short.

That mahogany is just so pretty. I tried to video it moving the camera around to show the kind of reflective glow it has, but it is hard to capture on camera.
