Thanks for the kind words, guys.
mbene085, that's a good comparison photo. I hadn't noticed before but it's very reminiscent of the Stingray.

Re: Telerauder Project
It's funny, I had seen your Telerauder but it only occurred now to me that the shape and even the neck/fretboard/body woods and black pickguard had the same overall colour scheme. Maybe because I've owned a Stingray for a few months now.
What's intriguing to me is that I hadn't noticed that the Marauder body was similar to the Stingray. Leo clearly drew inspiration from the unused prototype when designing his first new guitar after his CBS non-compete clause expired.
I think the lines of your design flow better overall. The pickguard and marauder plate hugging the lower edge of the body and the pickguard mirroring the pickup angle are very nice design elements.
Now, could you please lend your design services to FMIC? Because, around the time you were making this beauty, they came out with their own new offset Tele-pickup design...
Seriously, if the Meteora had looked like your Telerauder, I'd have ordered one for sure.

I hear what you're saying. I found the Meteora looked interesting but not quite my tastes. It looks like they tried a little too hard in designing it. I'll bet it's comfortable to play, though.

Re: Telerauder Project
My issues with it is that they didn't tie the elements together the way you did.
The tele bridge looks stuck-on...a big chrome rectangle on a dramatic, swooping design. Then there's the strat headstock, which doesn't fit...they already made a callback to an old design with the pickups, so now they're just throwing another old element in there. If you want to use an old design, at least a Starcaster/Marauder headstock would fit the size and shape of the body.
Then they stuck Gibson blocks on there, because nothing says "innovative" and "Fender" like their biggest competitor's inlay style that they haven't used on any guitars ever. It's like the designer literally found a Warmoth neck sitting in the back and just used that.
Your design tied the Telecaster headstock design to the pickups, and used the plate and pickguard shape to tie those Tele elements to the curvy Marauder body. It's the cohesion between those elements that makes it so attractive and clever.

Thanks for the compliment. It's nice to hear that others appreciate the effort to make it aesthetically sound.

I don't follow what Fender is up to, I didn't realize they finally did something with the Voyager design (NAMM about 6 years ago).
I agree the Telerauder is a better design but it IS nice to see Fender do SOMETHING new-it seems to be a love/hate design which is common with new designs. From what I've seen guitarist HATE change when it comes to what Fender or Gibson does.

You're right, it is nice to see something new come from Fender. Most 'new' stuff is just a minor twist on what already exists.

Re: Telerauder Project
Did you see where your guitar was shared on the official Warmoth facebook page? If not, just making sure.
I finally finish building a guitar, go to play it, and then remember, "oh yeah, that's right. I suck at playing... Why did I build another guitar again?"
