Jade Green Squier VMJM

Post by nayisthereason » Thu Oct 12, 2017 10:47 pm

Hey guys, finally got another offset in my life after making the mistake of selling my Fender JMJM.

Scored a nice sunburst squier from a friend. Dropped in some Blk Tri LITS and ordered a staytrem bridge but of course I had to take it all apart and strip the finish while i waited for the new bridge.

Gouged the wood pretty bad in some spots but I figured I'd clean it up a bit once I got to sanding it anyway.

I had a ton of green stain from a previous project so i figured "why not?"

Decided to leave a little of the orange stain that was under the poly finish to see if I could get some poking through the green. Was kind of going for a Snowflake Finishes type of combo except nowhere near as elaborate as what they do. I was happy it turned out how I hoped but I totally should've done the same with the front. I got a little happy with the palm sander lol.

Could've turned out a lot better but overall I'm happy with the outcome. I'll be finishing it off with some danish oil just to seal it up and putting it back tomorrow tomorrow.
The Staytrem arrived today and I'll be adding a better tremolo soon along with some better tuning keys and either anodized gold or anodized black guard.

Now I'm wondering if I should do a matching headstock or not. What do you guys think?

I'm not that into matching headstocks, as I don't really care, but I think you should go for it. It could look super great!!
And I would pick a gold anodized pickguard over a black one ;)

I'm getting some Thurston Moore sig JM vibes here... I like what I see :) I vote for anodized black.
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

And it’s done! Dropped in the staytrem bridge but it looks like I may need to shim the neck.

Just used the stock tort guard forcnow but I’ll probably get an anodized black guard soon!
I’ll be upgrading the tuners and the tremolo soon as well.

Overall I’m pretty stoked on it

Oh damn I had no clue the last one was so small. Are the originals showing up larger though?

I’ll throw up some better photos!
