Re: I want an Electric 12 String...here are a few ideas! hel
I built mine from parts. Jazzprod, a member here in Sweden built the body and pickguard. Curtis Novak Pickups, Warmoth neck. Everything else (except the 4 way switch for the pickups) was easy to find.
I went Firemist Gold on mine from MJT. A true 'real-deal' Fender XII in Firemist Gold + blocks and binding neck/matching headstock would have cost me 3 times as much as I spent on mine. I jokingly refer to mine as a Fender Custom Shop XII String. I don't lose sleep over not having a real one as this one sounds pretty damn close to a 'real' one.

I will sugest to go on Gotoh bridge and "surrounding metal ring" route, too. I've done it twice, and it looks OK to me (and to new owner of a gold one )BlixaFan wrote:well i think i just about died.... (also despite being left handed, and owning many left handed guitars, left handed guitars still look weird to me )
I have tried the "original bridge route" too, but so far, with partial success.
Bought Venus XII and tried to copy the bridge. Base plate was no problem, as you can see, it can be easily reproduced, but "chunky" parts (i.e. saddles, saddle holder, string ferrule piece...) I am still figuring out how to make.
If you can find someone to chrome plate it, I can mail the remaining outer ring to you.

For those saddles, you need (to find someone with) a small lathe.

200$ for something you only may use once (and it requires quite a learning process. I've studied mechanical engineering, which did involve turning pieces on the lathe, and it's harder than you think), maybe it's easier to look on a forum dedicated to metalworking or model engineering if someone in the country is willing to take up that job. It's not a difficult job if you know your machine, and are experienced with lathing operations (per saddle, it requires reducing the outer diameter, reducing the slot to the inner diameter, drilling a centerhole and tapping it. Saddles need to follow the fretboard radius, so you'll need 6 different sizes). A guy like Keith Appleton might be up for the job, but he's in the UK, and he might be busy/not interested since it's not steam.

Dan is the man, dude. He does a killer firemist silver refin. He refinished a jazzbass for me, it's posted here if you want to see the pics.
He helped with my Xii as well and was an absolute pleasure to work with, and a mighty fine craftsman.
Can't wait to watch your project come alive.

i can't wait to see it come along either. i think it'll be a relatively slow build, but soon enough it'll be real!

So, here's my budget alternative idea. On ebay there is currently a lefty 12 string "strat" probably made by cozart for $165... you buy that and a lefty Squier affinity jazzmaster body. Done. Less than $300
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

After a bit of research, the revelation guitars seem like a killer deal. Note that if you live outside the UK it will cone with a maple neck.

Harley benton makes a lefty jm for $128.
Problem is uses TOM bridge and tailpiece.

I've never came across any left Squier offset like anywhere. Like truly anywhere but you've been great about suggesting Harley Benton!!
Their Jazzmaster looks quite smaller body-wise compared to fender's but it seems a fun platform to mod, plus.. I've just seen on their website they also have a lefty Mustang (MS-60LH) Bilinda Butcher style counterparts which sports a lefty tremolo at the price of a steal!

i looked into the revelations guitars, and even found one for sale, but the maple neck was the thing that ultimately made me decide to go against it. maple and blocks is one of my least favorite combinations everFightingPlankton wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2017 10:43 pmhttps://entertainment.ha.com/itm/vi ... 1-51076.s
