I Want an All Rosewood Thinline Jazzmaster
I want that guitar, but i have doubts.
Its a partcaster.
I am a telecaster guy so, i dont know what to find in this guitar.
I made a rosewood telecaster buying parts to the same people. Its a heavy guitar, this is what i want the jazzmaster to be thinline.
Sorry if my english is not clearly enough.
What do you think?

Maybe I'm stupid, but it looks semi-hollow. Probably still heavy, but it looks awesome

Whoah. Where is this from, and how much does it weigh? Even if semi-hollow, that looks like a backbreaking guitar to me, but it certainly is pretty!

I guess technically, either term fits. Although both sides appear to be chambered, theres only 1 F hole.Singlebladepickup wrote:Maybe I'm stupid, but it looks semi-hollow. Probably still heavy, but it looks awesome
OP, this thing has beauty written all over it. Do post up the finished product. I don't normally get down on natural wood finishes (especially your ornate flames and burls and quilts et cetera) but I dig this in the same way I like the ECJM, only better with the F hole.

It looks really good. Being semi-hollow, maybe it won't weight any more than your Telecaster.
I've been a Tele man all my life. Just recently I started trying other designs and find the offset more comfortable than anything. You may find you really like it.

Weight issues aside it's a beast of a guitar. I'd love a rose wood Jag but I'm with you on the weight thing.

Well i ask the weight and they told me that is 7.05Lb, so i think the final weight could be 9.5lb. That weight is something that i can deal.Rgand wrote:It looks really good. Being semi-hollow, maybe it won't weight any more than your Telecaster.

Or do you think that the final weight could be more?
Thank you

I doubt it would be more than that if you use JM pickups which are lighter than hummbuckers.

How much heavier would an all-rosewood neck be as compared to maple with rosewood board?

The OP says the guitar is a thinline design which IS semi-hollow. So your post may not sound stupid, but definitely a little odd.Singlebladepickup wrote:Maybe I'm stupid, but it looks semi-hollow. Probably still heavy, but it looks awesome
Diego, you're considering buying from the eBay seller who says he's in FL but is based in Brazil?
https://www.ebay.com/sch/guitarbuild-brasil/m.html
I've watched their listings for a while. They seem to make decent gear.
They don't show the headstocks because they are not Fender-shaped and a little off putting.
IMO, it doesn't look like brazilian rosewood (dalbergia nigra), not to mention they can't freely ship that around due to protection from CITES.
It should be dalbergia latifolia (indian rw), dalbergia sissoo or a south american species that looks like them.
I may be wrong but they must have SPECIAL permission to ship dalbergia nigra from one country to another!
My tele body is a 1 piece from Musikraft and weighs 6.6 pounds. So it made a 10 pound (4.5 kg) Tele. Yeah, heavy-ish, but less than a lot of Les Paul's!!!
Nels Cline had this very nice JM made, by Henss Guitars:
http://equipboard.com/pros/nels-cline/h ... jazzmaster
OSG member Dirge has made MANY rw guitars:
I think a body from Guitar Build Brasil is a safe bet. the neck too if you don't mind a strange-looking headstock.
Musikraft, Warmoth, USACG can definitely help too, but $$$$$$$
Good luck and PLEASE post your next Jazzmaster!

Re: I Want an All Rosewood Thinline Jazzmaster
Some of the wood looks like Pau ferro, aka Morado.
Btw the eBay seller has a jazzmaster body at 5.9 pounds, 1 lb lighter than the thinline JM
and that's one very nice Tele. i'd like to see more!

Re: I Want an All Rosewood Thinline Jazzmaster
My JM body in roasted swamp ash weighs 4 lbs 2 oz with nothing on it. The finished guitar, including a Bigsby, weighs 8.5 lbs with a roasted maple neck. That's almost 5 lbs of neck and hardware. The Bigsby probably weighs 10 oz (I found that number online). If you have a rosewood neck, you can most likely figure you'll add another 4.5-5 lbs to the weight of it. That means you're looking at 10.5-11 lbs (assuming no Bigsby). That's just a bit over your Tele. Maybe hang a couple half-pound fishing weights on the Tele and see how it feels to you.diego_nu wrote:Well i ask the weight and they told me that is 7.05Lb, so i think the final weight could be 9.5lb. That said, all-rosewood sure does look good.
