I was thinking about having them refinish my avri jaguar. Did you just tell them "sherwood green", or did you specify anything else to get that color.

Re: MJT Partsmaster I'm starting on
Guy I bought it used from on Reverb said it was an aged lake placid blue, which - believe it or not - checks out. Aside from it being checked, it has some bright blue showing in a few spots where the clear has rubbed off a little. MJT's sherwood is nowhere near as light as mine, and frankly their sherwood's fairly ugly, but I tend to think it's an overrated color to begin with.Singlebladepickup wrote:I was thinking about having them refinish my avri jaguar. I can confirm the aged LPB part. I have a yellowed/aged LPB Jag body from MJT and it is very similar in colour. Looks like a bluish OTM in most light, and a light green in yellow light. It's a beautiful colour.Yeahbuddy wrote:Guy I bought it used from on Reverb said it was an aged lake placid blue, which - believe it or not - checks out. oooh. Whatever the color of this guitar is, it's very nice. It looks like the green johnny marr jag, so I assumed sherwood.

theyve also got an ice green metallic that looks a lot like this but also like my ice blue metallic 62 avri after it has naturally aged.Singlebladepickup wrote:oooh. Whatever the color of this guitar is, it's very nice. It looks like the green johnny marr jag, so I assumed sherwood.

and yeah it looks a lot more like the johnny marr than it does their own sherwood, which looks more like a hunter green to my eye.Singlebladepickup wrote:oooh. Whatever the color of this guitar is, it's very nice. It looks like the green johnny marr jag, so I assumed sherwood.

So, the important question is, "what colour are the pickguard and knobs/covers going to be?"
Hint: the only correct answer is mint with white witch hats and matching pup covers

That looks great!
I'm going have them build me a lake placid blue telecaster body in a couple weeks or so.

Thinking of doing another decoboom pickguard. Possibly the black whistle-bait one or another maybelline. If its a black gutard then it'll be all black knobs, but if its white, I could go either way.mbene085 wrote:So, the important question is, "what colour are the pickguard and knobs/covers going to be?"

Re: MJT Partsmaster I'm starting on
Actually, that is MJT's aged Ice Blue Metallic, not Lake Placid Blue (unless there's a LOT of light/flash involved in those shots).
I'll take a shot or two of my MJT Lake Placid Blue JM for comparison - it's WAY darker!

Black on aged lpb, or faded Sherwood, or yellowed yellowed iced blue is just wrong. There are some much better choices from deco, for this color (whichever youse decide it is) body, but not black.
