Long time lurker, first time poster...
This is cool - a neat texture which is unlike other tort-style guards.
I've been casting my own tort-style guards for a while too (here are a few examples - https://www.instagram.com/stable_equipment/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
Completely different method (and fairly labour intensive), but the results are ok. No machining required, and it's more stable and UV resistant than resin/traditional epoxy.

Holy hell! This looks sooo good, and Harvester is on board! Can't wait to see how this grows. Definitely interested in both, will be hard to choose! Need more guitars I guess. Construction methods giving me ideas for something I have long thought about attempting...Deed_Poll wrote:Looks great!stable_hq wrote:Long time lurker, first time poster...

Love these!! Definitely a better looking alternative than anything Fender puts out these days! Do you sell them?stable_hq wrote:Long time lurker, first time poster...

Re: Success! Epoxy Tort
This is giving me... ideas.
I've had it in my head to put together a JM with lipsticks (rear mounted in the traditional Dano way) so a pickguard if there is one at all would not have anything mounted to it and would not have any routes to cover. I'm thinking a natural finished body with a semi-transparent guard like this would look cool as hell.

Thanks for the welcomes. I was a little hesitant about posting, but I couldn't resist this thread. Really digging the guard OP posted and love seeing how others adorn their instruments.
I do sell these guards, and am in the process of putting a website online at the moment - currently selling though instagram and email.

Great to have you with us, Sarah! Your guards look fab. I was looking at casting for a while when I saw Youghiogheny art glass, I decided against it with the glass but yours look great. Is there a way for you to get a white backing or pinstripe behind it? By pouring in layers or something?

Yep, you can pour (or brush) a thin white coating on the back, or you could backspray it with super-opaque white paint. I've done it multiple ways in the past, and each has its merits.
