I would probably choose an acoustic but I would have to shop around. As much as I love looking at pretty guitars on the internet I am pretty incurious when it comes down to trying them out. I love my j-45 but it's probably not the best guitar in the world. Good enough for me!

I'd want a florentine LP with mini hums. idk if they make such a thing though.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Just get one routed for P-90's and get the mini-humbucker conversion rings ;) That sounds sweet!!

You're not the only one. This is exactly why I sold both my offsets a while back despite the fact that my Jag was the second best guitar I've ever played. The fact that most people seem to be buying them because "offsets are soooper special obscure guitars that will totally mark you out as an individual if you play one" is what makes it so cringeworthy as you're more likely to stand out by playing a sunburst Strat at this point.

Sorry, rant over. To answer the original question, 1960s Gretsch Tennessean.

I totally agree with this. All the scene kids and hipsters are playing JM's and jags. I think i mentioned this in another thread last winter...but i went to a "vote for Bernie" show in town and there were 5 bands playing...everyone single one of them had at least 1 offset in the band...one group had 3. They are great instruments...i just hate how its the trendy thing to do now. maybe we should all just buy bo diddly guitars and make that the new trend ;)

^It'd be cool to carve a Fender-style contour on front and back of Diddley guitar, but maintain the outer edge of rectangle. ;D

A semi hollow Jaguar

Being off put by a guitar because it's hip to play is kind of gross, and stupid imo. Play the guitars that fit your playing style and needs, Jesus Christ.

Lately I've been salivating over the idea of a Jag-scale Mustang with a Jag tremolo.

But honestly, if I could only have one guitar in the world, it'd be my Toronado. I always come back to it.

Hey palesnow67, what case is that your stang is in?

My "perfect" guit feels like a mustang, has the 3 telecaster sounds, but also the middle&bridge sounds of a good 'bucker-equipped gibson, and probably the offset trem.

Agreed. It's exactly the same as playing a particular guitar BECAUSE it's hip.

The trouble with individuals is they're all the same.

Not very inspiring but I would choose a UEG (Universal Electric Guitar)... a Strat. Rock, surf, country... that covers MY bases just fine. Sooooo why do I have 7 different guitars in the rack and 3 projects in the works? Not a strat in the bunch! Variety is fun and I like projects.

An old Gator case ;)
My mustang is actually 2005 i believe.
the serial site to date it says 94, but mine is the newer ones and they didnt make them at the time so it's definitely from mid to later 2000's

Wait i dont understand how having an offset is trendy now?
Like in the 90's it got big because people realized how great they are. Maybe people just actually like them or have always before they got popular? most are just now known
I mean I've always loved them. since i was 14 i drooled over a mustang (my second guitar i bought on my own was a legit fender standard mim strat, i thought it was my life until i saw a mustang, jag, and jazz) But i could be considered "hipster" even tho i dont ever compare myself to a lot of those small minded pretentious people.
I never thought they'd ever get popular tbh
